Gave birth to her first child at the age of 19. Made her debut on the big screen in Butch Perez's Mumbaki (1996). Won the Best Actress Award at Cinemalaya for her performance as a breast cancer survivor in Donsol (2006). Is an active supporter of the campaign to legalize medical marijuana in the Philippines because her younger daughter was born with hydrocephalus and this can be a natural way to help her daughter with her seizures.

Also won the Box-Office Queen of Philippine Movies title in 2006 at the 37th Guillermo Mendoza Scholarship Foundation Memorial Awards. Made it to the For Him Magazine (FHM) Philippines' Hall of Fame Hot 100 list in 2010, as she had been on the FHM 100 Sexiest list for 10 years. Won a New York Festivals Award in 2011 for the television show Dahil May Isang Ikaw, which first aired in 2009.
