Trivia: Got his first break in Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang (1974) after late director Lino Brocka spotted him at a gas station and won his first Best Actor award at the FAMAS Awards for it. Met his wife Sandy Andolong for the first time when late director Ishmael Bernal introduced them during a movie premiere in 1978. In 1999, was granted US citizenship by virtue of his maternal grandfather. Hosted the first Philippine version of the quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2000. Sworn-in as a senior board member of the 2nd district of Batangas City in 2010.

Played his first lead role in the movie Bagets (1984). Announced his candidature for the Congressional seat in the fourth district of Camarines Sur in 2012, but could not run for the election due to lack of residency status. After being listed as registered voters in San Jose, Camarines Sur, he ran for a congressional seat in the Partido area, but lost to his opponent by more than 2,500 votes.

Trivia: Made her debut with the movie Onyong Majikero (1991). First appeared on television in the mini-series Noli me Tangere, aired in 1993. Won the Gawad Urian Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in the Maalaala Mo Kaya: The Movie (1994). Was named as one of Time Magazine's Asian Heroes in 2003 for her efforts to further the cause of ecological awareness. Bagged The Outstanding Women in Nation's Service (TOWNS) Award in 2004 for environmental advocacy. Was a fire victim in 2010, which burned the mezzanine area of her house and amounted to an estimated damage of P100,000. Currently works as a resource speaker and lecturer for environmental education.
