Started her modeling career at age 3, with a TV commercial. Was discovered by director Lamberto Avellana and actor Boots Anson-Roa in 1975, when they saw her performing at a Christmas party. Bagged the title role in Mga Mata ni Angelita (1978) after a nationwide search. Rose to fame with lead role in GMA-7's soap opera Anna Liza; was called the Original Soap Opera Princess after its success. Took formal voice lessons from songwriter Cecille Azarcon; released her debut single "Somewhere In My Past" in 1985 that became a certified gold record within first few weeks of its release. Her sudden death, due to bronchopneumonia that she developed while being treated for multiple sclerosis at age 16, shocked the entire nation. Filipino musician Gary Valenciano wrote a song for her, "Why'd You Close Your Eyes so Soon," which was later turned into the hit Tagalog song "Sana Maulit Muli".
