John Schneider (Actor) .. Ray
Born: April 08, 1960
Birthplace: Mount Kisco, New York, United States
Trivia: In order to land the part of Bo Duke in the TV series The Dukes of Hazzard, John Schneider adopted a Cracker dialect and shambling good-ole-boy manner, claiming that he hailed from the tiny -- and fictional -- community of Snailville, Georgia. In fact, Schneider was born in Upstate New York, and was raised in Atlanta by his mom. During his teen years, Schneider picked up spending money by working as an entertainer at parties and public events, playing the guitar, telling jokes and performing a magic trick or two. He briefly attended the Georgia School of High Performance, hoping to become a race-car driver. His prowess behind the wheel enabled him to land his Dukes of Hazzard job, which he held down from 1979 to 1985, save for a brief 1982 walkout due to contract dispute. Schneider's Hazzard success allowed him to have both a recording career as a country music artist, and an ongoing presence on the small screen. In addition to numerous made-for-TV movies, he had a recurring role on the popular program Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Schneider gained a whole new legion of fans as the Earth father of Superman when he began playing Jonathan Kent on the teen-oriented superhero series Smallville in 2001. He returned to the big screen with a starring role in 2006's Collier & Co., which he also directed. He would also appear in movies like Super Shark and on the TV series Hero Factory. In 2013, he took a starring role in The Haves and Have Nots, a sopa opera created by Tyler Perry.
Tom Wopat (Actor) .. Pete
Born: September 09, 1951
Birthplace: Lodi, Wisconsin, United States
Trivia: To Gen-X'ers, particularly those who grew up hooked on prime-time television, Tom Wopat will be forever inseparable from his role as Luke Duke, the more intelligent and responsible of two cousins who spent their days charging around the rural South in a souped-up Dodge Charger and evading the wiles of corrupt politician Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke), on the comedy-adventure series The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985). Born on a dairy farm in Lodi, WI, Wopat attended the University of Wisconsin as a young man, where he displayed strong musical ambition as a trombone player and a singer. Wopat spent his post-collegiate years touring in musical theater productions before being tapped for the Duke role in 1979. The CBS series, of course, took off like a rocket and netted a huge fan base (particularly among preteen boys). By 1982, however, it ran into a snag. Wopat and co-star John Schneider (who played Bo Duke) took issue with Warner Brothers Television over their salaries and shares of Hazzard merchandising revenues; the production company in fact snubbed their demands by bringing in two substitute actors for a single season, only to discover that the ploy didn't work. Wopat and Schneider thus returned in 1983 and stuck with the series for two more seasons, until it wrapped in August 1985. In the mean time, Wopat parlayed his Hazzard recognition into a recording career as a country singer. An eponymous debut album appeared in 1983 to generally favorable reviews, followed by a sophomore effort, the Capitol release Don't Look Back, in 1990, and a third effort, the Epic release Learning to Love, in 1992. The performer continued to cut his acting chops as well from time to time, signing for roles in such little-seen features as Contagious (1997) and Meteorites! (1998). He scored one of his more prominent post-Hazzard roles in a supporting turn opposite leads Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, and Joan Allen in the female buddy comedy Bonneville (2006). Wopat also portrayed Jeff Robbins, ex-husband of actress Cybill Sheridan (Cybill Shepherd) in the first season of the CBS sitcom Cybill (1995-1998), and remained extremely active in various musical theater productions.
Hoyt Axton (Actor) .. Al
Born: March 25, 1938
Died: October 26, 1999
Trivia: Oklahoma-born singer/composer Hoyt Axton was the son of Mae Boren Axton, the highly respected country-and-western artist who wrote Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel." Upholding family tradition, Axton has penned several hit songs for performers other than himself, from the Kingston Trio's "Greenback Dollar" to Ringo Starr's "The No No Song." Axton's film career until the mid 1980s was confined to soundtrack contributions, notably for the 1969 groundbreaker Easy Rider. Switching to film acting in the late 1970s, Axton has appeared in good ole boy character roles in such films as The Black Stallion (1979) and Gremlins (1984). Hoyt Axton also sang the theme song for the TV sitcom Flo (1980-81).
Zachary Ansley (Actor) .. Michael
Born: January 21, 1972
Birthplace: Vancouver, British Columbia
Kim Delaney (Actor) .. Jessie
Born: November 29, 1961
Birthplace: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
Trivia: From her early days as a model to a memorable stint on the long-running soap opera All My Children and a successful film career, it seemed that Kim Delaney was destined for a life in the limelight -- never wandering far from the lens of the public eye. A Philadelphia native who began modeling in high school and soon set her eyes on the catwalks of New York, Delaney packed her bags to study acting in the Big Apple soon after graduation. A subsequent signing with Elite Modeling Agency resulted in cover shots for Glamour and Seventeen, and some acting coaching by Bill Esper proved essential in landing her a three-year stint on All My Children in 1981. Though she would later eschew the small screen in favor of feature work, a lack of desirable roles eventually found brought Delaney back to the small screen for an impressive run on the popular nighttime drama L.A. Law. Television success continued when Delaney received an Emmy for her work as alcoholic detective Diane Russell on the popular prime-time police drama NYPD Blue in 1997, and she would remain with the show until 2001. It seemed Delaney had finally hit her stride in the realm of television, and though she would make a momentary feature departure with a role in Brian De Palma's Mission to Mars (2000), subsequent television roles in the short-lived Philly (in which Delaney took the lead) and CSI: Miami served to prove that she had lost none of her dramatic intensity. In 2003, Delaney could be seen in the dramatic miniseries 10.5. Over the next several years, Delaney would continue to find success on the small screen, appearing on The O.C., Army Wives, and To Appomattox.
