Fred Dryer (Actor) .. Det. Sgt. Rick Hunter
Born: July 06, 1946
Birthplace: Hawthorne, California, United States
Trivia: Fred Dryer has spent the bulk of his acting career on television, but he has also appeared in a few feature films, beginning with The Starmaker (1981). Prior to becoming a performer, Dryer had been a professional football player. On television, he is best remembered for two roles, that of Sam Malone's irritating buddy, Dave Richards, in three episodes of the NBC sitcom Cheers and as fearless Detective Sergeant Rick Hunter in the series Hunter (1984). Other film appearances include Cannonball Run II (1984) and Day of Reckoning (1994).
Garrett Morris (Actor) .. Sporty James
Born: February 01, 1937
Birthplace: New Orleans, Louisiana, United States
Trivia: Another of Julliard's illustrious alumni, Garrett Morris' first significant professional job was as performer and arranger with the Harry Belafonte singers. Morris went on to appear in such Broadway productions as Porgy and Bess, Hallelujah Baby, and Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death. He also wrote two plays, The Secret Place and Daddy Picou and Marie LeVeau. His first film gig was as a makeup artist on This Property is Condemned (1967); he made his movie acting bow in 1970. After a season's worth of supporting appearances on the 1973-74 sitcom Roll Out, Morris was hired as one of the Not Ready for Prime Time Players on NBC's Saturday Night Live. After his SNL stint, Morris could be seen in film supporting roles, most amusingly as "Famous Amos" takeoff Chocolate Charlie in the otherwise indifferent 1985 horror film The Stuff. He also made a return visit to Broadway, starring in I'm Not Rappaport. Back on TV, Garret Morris was seen regularly as Stan Kemrite on Martin (1992-1994) and on the weekly sitcoms of Ellen Cleghorne and Jamie Foxx.
Darnell Williams (Actor) .. Ellis Riley
Born: March 03, 1955
Leon Rippy (Actor) .. Tolson
Born: October 30, 1949
Birthplace: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
Trivia: A veteran actor with a charming drawl, South Carolina native Leon Rippy began his acting career in the early '80s, making very minor appearances in very big films, like a store clerk in The Color Purple and an FBI agent in Firestarter. Rippy would continue to appear in several projects over the coming years, often taking on a number of roles every year. He notably played a prosecutor in 1988's Illegally Yours, and an Army sergeant in 1990's Moon 44, one of seven collaborations Rippy would make with director Roland Emmerich. The '90s would find the actor just as active as ever, appearing in the usual plethora of movies and TV shows, including high-profile appearances in 2000's The Patriot and on the series Walker, Texas Ranger. The new millennium would bring even more prominent work for the now silver-haired actor, with a starring role on the HBO western series Deadwood, which Rippy would appear on from 2004 to 2006. He soon took on another starring role on the police drama Saving Grace with Holly Hunter, playing Earl, a tough-talking, tobacco-spitting messenger from God. Although he was away from screens for nearly a half-decade after Saving Grace came to an end, he returned in the Johnny Depp project The Lone Ranger.
Robert Colbert (Actor) .. Cmdr. George Dryden
Born: January 01, 1928
Trivia: American leading man Robert Colbert made his first screen appearances as a Columbia contract player in the late '50s. His most thankless role during this period was as the romantic lead in the Three Stooges feature Have Rocket, Will Travel (1959). Seven years later, Colbert had another crack at the sci-fi genre as adventuresome scientist Dr. Doug Phillips on TV's The Time Tunnel. Each week, Colbert and co-star James Darren were plunked down into a crucial moment in world history, courtesy of the 20th Century-Fox stock footage department. In between these two assignments, Colbert played Brent Maverick, one of the stop-gap characters created to cover the defection of James Garner on the western series Maverick (1957-62). Daytime drama devotees are most familiar with Robert Colbert's decade-long tenure as Stuart Brooks on The Young and the Restless.
Janet Hubert (Actor) .. Vanessa Riley
Born: January 13, 1956
Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois
John Carter (Actor) .. Capt. McBride
Born: November 26, 1927
Trivia: Supporting actor John Carter appeared on screen beginning in the '70s.
Greg Finley (Actor) .. Ackerman
Born: December 22, 1984
Birthplace: Portland, Maine, United States
Trivia: Basketball injuries in high school ended his college-basketball aspirations. Studied restaurant management before dropping out of college to pursue an acting career. Worked at a clothing store while trying to make it as a struggling actor. Appeared in a national commercial for Jack Link's beef jerky. Cowrote a screenplay titled Danny Boy. Plays basketball in the NBA Entertainment League, comprised of actors who play exhibition games for charity.
