Evan Rachel Wood (Actor) .. Lucy
Born: September 07, 1987
Birthplace: Raleigh, North Carolina, United States
Trivia: Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh, NC, where her father Ira David Wood ran a theater company. Along with her two brothers, she acted in her dad's stage productions before getting small roles in made-for-TV movies. In 1995, she made several guest appearances on the CBS drama American Gothic, as the daughter of Mrs. Russell (played by real-life mom Sara Lynn Moore). Her next regular role was Chloe on the NBC sci-fi police drama Profiler. She left the show to join the cast of the popular ABC family drama Once and Again as Rick's daughter Jessie. Along with child actor co-stars Julia Whelan and Meredith Deane, she won a Young Artist Award for her work on the show. Other TV appearances include Touched by an Angel, The West Wing, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 1998, Wood made her first feature film in Timothy Hutton's directorial debut Digging to China. In the starring role of Harriet Frankovitz, she played a ten-year-old girl who befriends mentally challenged adult Ricky (Kevin Bacon). More movie appearances followed in Griffin Dunne's fantasy Practical Magic, Joey Travolta's crime movie Detour, and Andrew Niccol's sci-fi comedy Simone. Her next leading role was in the family-friendly drama Little Secrets as teenage concert violinist Emily Lindstrom. Her big breakthrough came in 2003 as the star of Catherine Hardwicke's directorial debut Thirteen, which was partially written by teenage co-star Nikki Reed. Launched into semi-stardom by the well-marketed movie, she was then offered a part in Ron Howard's Western The Missing, also starring Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones. Projects for 2004 include the family drama The Upside of Anger and the teen comedy Pretty Persuasion.
Jim Sturgess (Actor) .. Jude
Born: May 16, 1978
Birthplace: London, England
Trivia: American audiences first caught suave and dashing British actor Jim Sturgess via his portrayal of Jude -- the paternally shorn young man who travels to the U.S. amid the raging throes of the late '60s and falls in love with musician Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood) -- in Julie Taymor's hallucinatory Beatles drama Across the Universe (2007). This indeed represented Sturgess' preeminent international bow, but prior to it, he sustained almost a decade of roles in British productions -- mostly telefilms -- including I'm Frank Morgan (2000), Hawkins (2001), and the three installments of the Quest series. He followed up Across The Universe with the gambling thriller 21 and the period drama The Other Boleyn Girl. He lent his voice to Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole in 2010, and in 2011 he appeared opposite Anne Hathaway in the romantic drama One Day.
Joe Anderson (Actor) .. Max Carrigan
Born: March 26, 1982
Birthplace: England
Trivia: When British actor Joe Anderson debuted onscreen in the mid-2000s, he immediately evinced a predilection for seeking out supporting roles in the most conceptually interesting and dynamic material available to him. Anderson's chosen projects -- which spanned a wide variety of genres -- never felt less than arresting. These included the Agnieszka Holland Beethoven biopic Copying Beethoven (2006), Julie Taymor's much-anticipated Beatles drama Across the Universe (2007) and the critically praised biopic of post-punk singer Ian Curtis, Control (2007).
Dana Fuchs (Actor) .. Sadie
Born: January 10, 1976
Trivia: The gifted singer/songwriter-turned-actress Dana Fuchs (pronounced "Fyooks") launched her entertainment career as the frontwoman for the grassroots band the Dana Fuchs Band. The group constituted a blues-influenced, mellow yet energetic rock act that more than amply revealed Fuchs' melodic gifts and ability to pen catchy hooks; in this venue, the vocalist suggested a cross between Bonnie Raitt and Melissa Etheridge. Fuchs transitioned to features almost effortlessly by debuting on a soundtrack -- to Laurie Collyer's acclaimed character study SherryBaby (2006). The following year, Fuchs landed the role of tenement owner-cum-rocker Sadie (as in, "Sexy Sadie," from the Beatles' White Album) in Julie Taymor's psychedelically tinged Fab Four romp, Across the Universe (2007).
Martin Luther McCoy (Actor) .. Jo-Jo
T.V. Carpio (Actor) .. Prudence
Trivia: After essaying bit parts on Law & Order and a supporting turn in Spike Lee's She Hate Me (2004), actress T.V. Carpio ascended to slightly higher billing with her portrayal of Prudence (from the John Lennon song "Dear Prudence") in Julie Taymor's controversial Beatles phantasmagoria Across the Universe (2007).
Ekaterina Sknarina (Actor) .. Rita
Born: July 01, 1979
Robert Clohessy (Actor) .. Jude's Father
Born: June 10, 1958
Birthplace: Bronx, New York, United States
Trivia: Played on the varsity football team in high school. Competed in a Golden Gloves amateur boxing competition at Madison Square Garden at the age of 17, but was soon after diagnosed with elbow tendinitis, ending his boxing career. Made his stage debut in his high school's production of Kismet. In 1999, played the role of Mitch in the Hartford Stage's production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Performed on Broadway as Mike in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Pal Joey in 2009.
Dylan Baker (Actor) .. Lucy's Father
Born: October 07, 1959
Birthplace: Syracuse, New York, United States
Trivia: Born to a pair of lawyers in Syracuse, NY, and raised in nearby Lynchburg, Dylan Baker attended Georgetown Prep and William and Mary College before earning his B.F.A. at Southern Methodist University, where his passion for acting was ignited with numerous stage roles. Later refining his talents at Yale's School of Drama, Baker would turn professional with big screen roles in movies like Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Delirious (1991), and Love Potion No. 9 (1992). The mid-'90s found the increasingly busy actor dividing his time between stage, screen, and television, and Baker would soon wed actress Becky Ann Baker (the couple later appeared together in Woody Allen's Celebrity [1998]). A successful stage performance of La Bete found Baker nominated for Tony and Drama Desk Awards, and Baker and his wife continued to develop a close association with New York's Drama Department theater troupe. Following his remarkable performance in Happiness, Baker would appear in films such as Random Hearts, The Cell, and Thirteen Days (all 2000). As the 2000's unfolded, Baker would remain an active force on screen, appearing in movies like The Tailor of Panama, and Along Came a Spider, and on TV shows like 24, Damages, and Hawaii Five-O.
Linda Emond (Actor) .. Lucy's Mother
Born: May 22, 1959
Lynn Cohen (Actor) .. Grandmother Carrigan
Born: August 10, 1933
Died: February 14, 2020
Birthplace: Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Trivia: Primarily a stage actress, Lynn Cohen has also done some memorable work in film and television. Her stage credits include performances at the Lincoln Center Theater and the New York Shakespeare Festival. In 1993, she made her feature film debut in Woody Allen's Manhattan Murder Mystery. The same year, she guest-starred on the NBC crime drama Law & Order as Arraignment Judge Elizabeth Mizener, a role she would continue for the next decade. Her other television appearances include the reoccurring role of Magda on HBO's Sex and the City. On the big screen, Cohen also appeared in Louis Malle's Vanya on 42nd Street, adapted from the play by Anton Chekhov. During the mid '90s, she appeared in several small independent films by up-and-coming female directors, such as Mary Harron's I Shot Andy Warhol, Nicole Holofcener's Walking and Talking, and Sharon Pollack's Everything Relative. During this time, she also read at several of the Fifth Night Screenplay Readings at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in New York City. She also appeared in the childhood drama Hurricane, the romantic comedy Once We Were Strangers, and the addiction drama The Jimmy Show. Back on the stage, she appeared in The Golem at the Manhattan Ensemble Theater during the 2002-2003 season. In 2004, she appeared in Enid Zentelis' independent coming-of-age drama Evergreen, which was part of the dramatic competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
Bill Irwin (Actor) .. Uncle Teddy
Born: April 11, 1950
Birthplace: Santa Monica, California, United States
Trivia: Bill Irwin certainly qualifies as one of the most unique figures in show business; attempts to compare him to other talent invariably conclude with the observation that there is no one else like Irwin, a testament to his overarching individuality. A native of Santa Monica, Irwin spent periods of his youth in Southern California and Oklahoma, then attended Oberlin College (as a theater arts major) and Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Clown College in Florida, where lessons learned in slapstick, pantomime, comedic improvisation, and graceful balletic would continue to inform his art and style throughout his life. Following said education, he spent various periods of time in dramatic ensembles (such as the prestigious Kraken ensemble) and circuses (such as the Frisco-based Pickle Family Circus) and racked up a litany of theatrical accomplishments that included Broadway performances in Waiting for Godot (opposite Steve Martin and Robin Williams) and Accidental Death of an Anarchist (opposite Jonathan Pryce), a critically acclaimed turn in Fool Moon (with the Red City Ramblers), and many other highlights. Meanwhile, on television, Irwin built up a substantial audience of young people with his wordless portrayal of Mr. Noodle (opposite the late Michael Jeter) on the "Elmo's World" segments of Sesame Street. Irwin's feature appearances include A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999), Igby Goes Down (2002), Lady in the Water (2007), and Rachel Getting Married (2008), and Higher Ground (2011).
Jennifer Van Dyck (Actor) .. Daniel's Mother
Born: December 23, 1962
Birthplace: St. Andrews, Scotland
Timothy T. Mitchum (Actor) .. Jo-Jo's Brother
Born: July 26, 1992
Carol Woods (Actor) .. Gospel Singer
Born: November 13, 1943
Elain Graham (Actor) .. Jo-Jo's Mother
Born: June 19, 1949
Joe Cocker (Actor) .. Bum/Pimp/Mad Hippie
Born: May 20, 1944
Died: December 21, 2012
Jacob Pitts (Actor) .. Rap Magazine Employee
Born: October 10, 1980
Birthplace: Connecticut, United States
Trivia: Actor Jacob Pitts made his on-camera debut in his twenties and specialized in playing slightly ragged, antisocial rebels. Pitts took one of his first bows as a guest star, with a small role in a 1999 episode of the Comedy Central series Strangers with Candy, then signed for a supporting turn in Peter Yates' made-for-television psychodrama A Separate Peace (2002), a lead in the frat-boy comedy Eurotrip (2003), and a bit part as a rap magazine employee in Julie Taymor's controversial Beatles phantasmagoria Across the Universe (2007). In 2008, Pitts made a memorable contribution to Robert Luketic's inspired-by-real-events thriller 21. He played Fisher, a long-haired MIT brainiac-turned-gambler who makes the fatal mistake of enjoying a drunken night at the gaming tables and letting a few choice words slip to one of his fellow students. He was part of the original cast of another well-regarded series, Justified, when he was cast in the part of Tim Gutterson on that award-winning cable program based on characters created by Elmore Leonard.
Bono (Actor) .. Dr. Robert
Born: May 10, 1960
Birthplace: Dublin, Ireland
Trivia: The lead singer of politically-charged Irish band U2 since 1977, Bono's involvement with the movies has been mostly musical. Combining music and politics, Bono took part in Bob Geldof's Do They Know It's Christmas (1984) project to combat famine in Africa, and the anti-South African apartheid documentary Sun City - Artists United Against Apartheid (1985). Bono's primary 1980s onscreen appearance, though, was the concert documentary U2: Rattle and Hum (1988). Shot during the apex of the band's success with their hit album The Joshua Tree (1987), U2: Rattle and Hum delved into the band's admiration for rock's pioneers along with presenting performance footage from their Joshua Tree American tour. Since then, Bono (with and without his bandmates) has worked regularly with German director Wim Wenders, contributing songs to the soundtracks of the futurist road movie Until the End of the World (1991), and the Wings of Desire (1987) sequel Faraway, So Close! (1993), and serving as one of the producers, writers, and composers for Million Dollar Hotel (2000). Harking back to the Irish politics that drove their 1983 album War, Bono and U2 contributed a song to In the Name of the Father (1993). Bono also appeared onscreen as himself in Rattle and Hum director Phil Joanou's Entropy (1999) and Wender's aforementioned Million Dollar Hotel. He contributed a song to the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese's 2002 epic Gangs of New York, and appeared regularly in documentaries about various musicians. In 2007 he played Dr. Robert in Julie Taymor's Across the Universe, and that same year U2 made a 3D concert film. He would reteam with Taymor for the ill-fated Broadway Musical Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark which became allegedly the most expensive production in history before finally opening on Broadway.
Daniel Ezralow (Actor) .. Mother Superior
Kiva Dawson (Actor) .. Max's Girl
Born: December 12, 1970
Eddie Izzard (Actor) .. Mr. Kite
Born: February 07, 1962
Birthplace: Aden, Yemen
Trivia: An enormously popular British comedian known as much for his transvestitism as he is for his excoriating social observations, Eddie Izzard is one of the most gleefully unpredictable -- to say nothing of contradictory -- performers to have sabotaged the stage and screen during the late 20th century.Born in Yemen on February 7, 1962, Izzard grew up in Wales and Northern Ireland. Following his mother's death when he was six, Izzard found some degree of solace in comedy, particularly the works of Monty Python, Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, and the early Benny Hill. He began doing stand-up at college and, after being ingloriously kicked out of school, he took his act to the streets. Izzard refined his material -- which largely revolved around personal experiences, politics, and social issues -- over the next decade, and in the early '90s, he finally began earning some measure of recognition. His stand-up work brought him British Comedy Awards in 1993 and 1996, and with popular and critical approval thus in hand, Izzard began appearing in films.Izzard's supporting roles in The Avengers and Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine (both 1998) were concurrent with his first internationally acclaimed tour, Dress to Kill. The tour helped to establish him on both sides of the Atlantic, allowing the comedian to begin the new century on an exceptionally positive note. 2000 saw him co-starring in Shadow of the Vampire, a fictional depiction of the filming of the 1922 Nosferatu; the film's cast also included John Malkovich, Willem Dafoe, and Stephen Fry.Izzard continued his highly successful stand-up appearances while maintaining a presence in movies. He played Charlie Chaplin in Peter Bogdanovich's The Cat's Meow, attempted to steal a couple of scenes from the crew in Ocean's Twelve, appeared in Ivan Reitman's My Super Ex-Girlfriend, and offered his vocal talents to the animated film The Wild.In 2007 he appeared as Mr. Kite in Julie Taymor's Across the Universe. The next year he voiced one of the main characters in the animated film Igor and appeared in the historical thriller Valkyrie. He went on to do two more comedy concert films before voicing the entrepreneur Miles Axlerod in Pixar's Cars 2. In 2012 he appeared in Snow White and the Huntsman.
Salma Hayek (Actor) .. Singing Nurse
Born: September 02, 1966
Birthplace: Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico
Trivia: Widely considered to be the first Mexican actress to become a Hollywood movie star since Dolores Del Rio, Salma Hayek is known for bringing a fiery presence and striking, dark-eyed beauty to the screen. A soap star in her native Mexico, Hayek risked her entire career to come to L.A., where she struggled to be taken seriously. Her discovery by director Robert Rodriguez, who cast her in his 1995 film Desperado, gave Hayek her breakthrough, and she subsequently gained a reputation as one of Hollywood's sexiest and busiest actresses. The daughter of a Spanish mother and Lebanese father, Hayek was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, on September 2, 1966. Raised in a devoutly Catholic family, she was sent to a Louisiana boarding school at the age of 12. After getting into trouble for terrorizing the nuns, Hayek returned to Mexico, but she was eventually sent to Houston, Texas, to live with her aunt, where she stayed until she was 17. She subsequently moved to Mexico City, where she studied International Relations as a university student, but, to the chagrin of her family, decided to drop out in order to pursue a career as an actress. Starting out in local theatre productions, she eventually moved to television and landed a starring role in the popular soap opera Teresa. The show's success made Hayek a celebrity in her native country, but, desiring something more, she shocked her fans by deciding to quit the show in order to pursue a career in L.A.After taking a year to learn English and study acting with Stella Adler, Hayek got her first break when Allison Anders cast her in a supporting role in Mi Vida Loca (1993). The role allowed Hayek to obtain a Screen Actors Guild card, and after doing so, she continued to audition until she appeared on a Spanish-language cable access talk show that happened to count director Robert Rodriguez amongst its viewers. Rodriguez tracked Hayek down and promptly cast her in Desperado, his bigger-budget 1995 sequel to El Mariachi. The film, which also starred Antonio Banderas, succeeded in giving the actress her own plot on the Hollywood map, and Rodriguez again demonstrated his faith in her when he cast her in his next project, the vampire extravaganza From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). Unfortunately for Hayek, the film, which also starred George Clooney, failed to do as well as expected, and Hayek's next few projects were similarly lackluster. The Faculty (1998), a teen thriller that cast Hayek as a teacher who turns into an alien, was an exception, and Kevin Smith's Dogma (1999), which featured her as a celestial muse, was fairly successful with critics and audiences. Also in 1999, Hayek had a starring role in what was to be her biggest film to date, Barry Sonnenfeld's Wild Wild West, which also starred Will Smith and Kevin Kline. Unfortunately for all involved, the film was a turkey. In 2000, Hayek could be seen in smaller, edgier ventures, including the independent comedy Chain of Fools, in which she played a centerfold-turned- cop, and Mike Figgis' experimental Time Code, which cast her as Jeanne Tripplehorn's lover. If these films ultimately didn't provide Hayek with a role that would draw attention to her genuine talent, this would soon change with the long awaited biography of tragic artist Frida Kahlo. With her role as the epnoymous character in Frida (2002), Hayek disappeared into her subject so convincingly that not only would she return to the good graces of critics, but earn an Oscar nomination as well.Hayek would spend the coming years enjoying superstar status with everything from comedic turns on sitcoms like Ugly Betty (which she produced) and 30 Rock, to meaty roles in dramatic thrillers like Savages.

Still, Smith had her sites set on being a star even before her physicality caught up with her ambition -- which it eventually did. As Smith entered her teens, her voice matured, finally reaching a level of strength and control where she was able to achieve the kinds of vocal heights demonstrated by her heroes like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. With her instrument in full bloom, Smith embarked on a career in show business, beginning on Broadway, where she first caught public attention with the role of Mimi in Rent. Following her stint with the musical, she then moved onto the screen, appearing in films like Across the Universe, and as R&B star Faith Evans in the 2009 Notorious B.I.G. biopic Notorious.

Logan Marshall-green (Actor) .. Paco
Born: November 01, 1976
Birthplace: Charleston, South Carolina, United States
Trivia: Although both his parents had careers in the theater, he didn't decide to pursue acting until late in his college career. Turned down a longer character arc for Trey on The O.C. so he could return to doing theater, his true passion. Received Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominations in 2004 for his performance in Neil LaBute's The Distance from Here.
James Urbaniak (Actor) .. Sadie's Manager
Born: September 17, 1963
Birthplace: Bayonne - New Jersey - United States
Trivia: Tall, dark, and scarecrow-thin, James Urbaniak is probably best known to art house audiences for his work in Hal Hartley's Henry Fool (1997) and The Book of Life (1998). Urbaniak, who met Hartley in the mid-1990s, made his film debut courtesy of the director, who cast the actor in his short Comedy Central film Opera No. 1 (1994), which also featured Adrienne Shelly and future Henry Fool co-star Parker Posey.A product of New Jersey, where he was born in 1963, Urbaniak graduated from high school in 1981. Following a brief stint at community college, he spent the next several years "bumming around" (in his own words) New Jersey, working odd jobs, and doing community theatre. A 1987 introduction to theatre director Karin Coonrod led to the creation of the Arden Party theatre company, which had its debut on the Jersey shore that same year. The company moved to New York the following year and eventually became something of a downtown theatre institution with productions of such works as The Importance of Being Earnest and Romeo and Juliet. In addition to his work as the co-founder of the Arden Party, Urbaniak also performed with a number of other off-off-Broadway theatre companies, and in 1996, he won a Village Voice Obie award for his performance in avant-garde director and playwright Richard Forman's The Universe. After becoming acquainted with director Hartley, who cast him in his aforementioned 1994 film debut, Urbaniak starred in Henry Fool as Simon Grim, an unassuming and oft-abused garbage man who turns out to be a Nobel Prize-winning literary genius. The film, and Urbaniak's performance, earned a number of positive reviews and a strong art house showing, and the following year the actor could be seen in Hartley's Book of Life, a comedy about Christ's Second Coming that premiered at the Cannes Festival. In addition to his work for Hartley, Urbaniak began appearing in the films of other directors, most notably Hilary Brougher's The Sticky Fingers of Time (1997), which cast him as a 1950s science editor who travels across time; and Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown (1999), which featured the actor in a small role as a musician in Sean Penn's band.
