Resigned from MediaCorp in 2014 to help a friend in a business, but had to put that plan on hold to attend to her father's illness. She returned to acting after a year, in the TV drama, Crescendo as Deng Xue Li.

Trivia: An involved sportsman from his childood, Tay represented his school in various sports and was a blackbelt exponent in Tae Kwon Do. Worked as the general manager of an American franchise before he was headhunted to join MediaCorp. Won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 1999 Star Awards barely a year after his debut. Received the All-Time Favorite Artiste Award at Star Awards 2012. Made his directorial debut with a Singapore/ China co-production Meet the Giants.
