Robert Fuller (Actor) .. Dr. Kelly Brackett
Born: July 29, 1933
Birthplace: Troy, New York, United States
Trivia: Robert Fuller spent his first decade in show business trying his best to avoid performing. After his film debut in 1952's Above and Beyond, Fuller studied acting with Sanford Meisner at New York's Neighborhood Playhouse but never exhibited any real dedication. He tried to become a dancer but gave that up as well, determining that dancing was "sissified." Fuller rose to nominal stardom fairly rapidly in the role of Jess Harper on the popular TV western Laramie (1959-63). Once he found his niche in cowboy attire, he stuck at it in another series, Wagon Train, turning down virtually all offers for "contemporary" roles. When westerns began dying out on television in the late 1960s, Fuller worked as a voiceover actor in commercials, earning some $65,000 per year (a tidy sum in 1969). On the strength of his performance in the Burt Topper-directed motorcycle flick The Hard Ride, Fuller was cast by producer Jack Webb as chief paramedic Kelly Brackett on the weekly TVer Emergency, which ran from 1972 through 1977. In 1994, Robert Fuller was one of several former TV western stars who showed up in cameo roles in the Mel Gibson movie vehicle Maverick.
Julie London (Actor) .. Nurse Dixie McCall
Born: September 26, 1926
Died: October 18, 2000
Trivia: Sultry blues vocalist Julie London began her film career long before she achieved fame as a recording artist. In 1945, 18-year-old London was selected to play a bargain-basement jungle princess, appearing opposite a gorilla in the PRC cheapie Nabonga. She was pretty bad, but no worse than the film itself. By the time she was cast as a sexy teenager in The Red House (1947), her acting had improved immensely, and by the time she played the female lead in the 1951 programmer The Fat Man, it looked as though she actually had a future in films. Still, London's greatest claim to fame was her long string of hit records ("Cry Me a River" et. al.) of the 1950s; many male admirers bought her albums simply to gaze upon her come-hither countenance on the dust jacket. Her status as every red-blooded American boy's wish dream was gently lampooned in Frank Tashlin's The Girl Can't Help It (1956), in which she appears as a spectral vision who transfixes a wistful Tom Ewell. Her best dramatic film appearances of this period include her leading-lady gigs in Voice in the Mirror (1958) and Man of the West (1958). From 1945 through 1955, Julie London was the wife of actor/producer Jack Webb; years after the divorce, London played Nurse Dixie McCall on the popular Jack Webb-produced TV series Emergency, in which she co-starred with her second husband, actor/jazz musician Bobby Troup.
Bobby Troup (Actor) .. Dr. Joe Early
Born: October 13, 1918
Died: February 07, 1999
Kevin Tighe (Actor) .. Roy DeSoto
Willard Sage (Actor) .. Dr. Eccles
Born: January 01, 1922
Died: January 01, 1974
Trivia: Canadian supporting actor, onscreen from the '50s.
Randolph Mantooth (Actor) .. John Gage
Born: September 19, 1945
Lloyd Bochner (Actor) .. Dr. Sunderland
Born: July 29, 1924
Died: October 29, 2005
Trivia: After racking up impressive stage credits in Canada and the U.S., actor Lloyd Bochner familiarized himself with American televiewers in the supporting role of Captain Nicholas Lacey in the prime-time TV serial One Man's Family (1952). Dozens of guest-star assignments later, Bochner again showed up on a weekly basis as police chief Neil Campbell in Hong Kong (1960). His later TV series stints included The Richard Boone Show (1963, as a member of Boone's "repertory company"), and Dynasty (1981-1982 season, as Cecil Colby). In films from 1963's Drums of Africa, Bochner has been seen in such characterizations as Marc Peters in the Carol Lynley version of Harlow (1965) and Dr. Cory in The Dunwich Horror (1969). By far, Bochner's most memorable assignment was the 1962 Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man," as the scientist who learns all too late that "It's a cookbook!"; nearly 30 years later, he parodied this deathless moment in Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear (1991). Lloyd Bochner is the father of Emmy-winning actor Hart Bochner.
Jack Dodson (Actor) .. George
Born: May 16, 1931
Died: September 16, 1994
Trivia: Character actor Jack Dodson was perhaps best known for playing Howard Sprague, the county clerk on The Andy Griffith Show and its spin-off, Mayberry RFD. Before coming to Hollywood and joining the homespun series in 1967, Dodson was an established player on Broadway, having appeared in productions such as Our Town and You Can't Take It With You. After Mayberry folded in 1971, he went on to guest star on a wide variety of television series. He made his screen debut with a bit part in Munster Go Home (1966). He followed that with a small role in the Andy Griffith vehicle Angel in My Pocket (1968). Dodson's other film credits include The Getaway (1972), Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974), and A Climate for Killing (1991).
Vic Mohica (Actor) .. Husband
Candace Howerton (Actor) .. Virginia
Jessica Rains (Actor) .. Edna
Born: January 24, 1938
Michael Richardson (Actor) .. Doug
James Turley (Actor) .. Philips
Dick Hammer (Actor) .. Capt. Hammer
Sam Lanier (Actor) .. Dispatcher
Kevin Dobson (Actor) .. 1st Deputy
Born: March 18, 1943
Birthplace: Jackson Heights, Queens, New York
Trivia: Kevin Dobson labored as a trainman, brakeman and conductor for the Long Island Railroad in his pre-acting days. While he has done plenty of stage work, Dobson is best known for his TV accomplishments. He was signed in 1973 for what turned out to be a five-year run on Kojak, playing Telly Savalas' trusted assistant (and occasional punching bag) Detective Bobby Crocker; when Kojak was revived as an occasional series in 1989, Dobson guest-starred as Crocker (now a state prosecutor) in one episode. In 1981, Dobson starred in the San Francisco-filmed cop series Shannon, which lasted but a single season. The very next year, Kevin Dobson launched his longest series-TV stint in the role of attorney M. Patrick McKenzie, second husband of Karen Fairgate (Michelle Lee),on the prime-time serial Knots Landing.
