He debuted onscreen in Now You See Him, Now You Don't (1972), going on to play small roles in a number of minor films; by the mid '70s he was getting somewhat better roles in better films. Begley became well-known in the '80s, portraying Dr. Erlich on the TV series St. Elsewhere; for his work he received an Emmy nomination. His success on TV led to much better film roles, but he has never broken through as a big-screen star.
Megyn Price (Actor)
Born: March 24, 1971
Birthplace: Seattle, Washington, United States
Trivia: Early in her career, the memorably alluring, statuesque actress Megyn Price could be seen in guest spots on such series as Quantum Leap and The Drew Carey Show, and as a regular on LateLine (opposite humorist Al Franken), before landing two major series roles that brought her national acclaim and recognition. She first played Claudia Finnerty on the Irish-American-themed family sitcom Grounded for Life, alongside Donal Logue and Kevin Corrigan, from 2001 to 2005. Then, two years after that series folded, Price earned rave reviews for her portrayal of the nuptially jaded Audrey (opposite onscreen hubby Patrick Warburton, of Seinfeld fame) on the relationship sitcom Rules of Engagement (2007).
Diedrich Bader (Actor)
Born: December 24, 1966
Birthplace: Washington, District of Columbia, United States
Trivia: An actor whose tall, rangy build and boyish good looks have made him a natural for comic roles, Diedrich Bader was born in Alexandria, VA, on Christmas Eve 1966; his father, William Bader, was Chief of Staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee during the Carter administration, and his mother, Gretta Bader, was a sculptor of note. When Bader was two, he and his family moved to Paris, France, where the boy was exposed to a steady diet of classic American comedies; young Bader was especially fond of Charlie Chaplin, and appeared on-stage for the first time at the age of four, imitating the Little Tramp at a revival theater during an unexpected intermission after a rare Chaplin film jammed in the projector. Bader and his family returned to the United States in time for him to enter high school, and he later attended the North Carolina School for the Arts. While vacationing in Santa Fe, NM, during spring break, Bader met a casting agent who lined up an audition for a small role in a television pilot. Bader ended up winning the leading role instead, and while the pilot never sold, it did prompt Bader to relocate to Los Angeles and begin pursuing an acting career full-time. He began landing guest spots on episodic television shows, including Cheers, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. In 1993, Bader was cast as the Searcher on the television series Danger Theater, a short-lived spoof of action-adventure programs. Penelope Spheeris, who directed the Danger Theater episodes, remembered Bader when casting for her film The Beverly Hillbillies (1993), based on the popular sitcom of the '60s and '70s. Bader won the role of cheerful but slow-witted Jethro Bodine, and his performance was one of the comic highlights of the film. The movie significantly raised Bader's visibility, and in 1995 he was cast as the logically challenged Oswald on The Drew Carey Show. Bader's success on The Drew Carey Show led to notable supporting roles in motion pictures, such as Office Space and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back; he also began doing voice work for a number of animated television projects, including Pepper Ann, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and Kim Possible. In his private life, Bader married actress Dulcy Rogers in 1998. As his run on The Drew Carey Show continued, he also appeared regularly in feature film such as The Country Bears, Napoleon Dynamite, Eurotrip, and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, as well as animated films like Ice Age and Bolt. In 2010 he landed a recurring role on the short-lived NBC sitcom Outsourced.
Christine Ebersole (Actor)
Born: February 21, 1953
Birthplace: Winnetka, Illinois, United States
Trivia: A trained Broadway singer and dancer, Christine Ebersole started acting in the 1970s on the ABC soap opera Ryan's Hope. On Broadway, she shared the stage with many greats in shows like Camelot. In 1981, she joined the cast of Saturday Night Live before returning to soaps to play Maxi McDermott on One Life to Live and earning a Daytime Emmy nomination. In 1985, Ebersole moved on to the sitcoms The Cavanaughs and Valerie. She sang the theme song as well as starred in the short-lived Fox sitcom Rachel Gunn, R.N. After making her film debut with a bit part in Tootsie, she had a few film roles, including opera diva Katerina Cavalieri in Milos Forman's Amadeus. She also starred in the family sci-fi feature Mac and Me, the Bill Cosby vehicle Ghost Dad, and several made-for-TV movies. Some of her credits include My Girl 2, Folks!, Pie in the Sky, and the Bette Midler TV version of Gypsy. In 2001, Ebersole received a Tony award for her work on the Broadway revival of 42nd Street. She worked more often on stage than on TV or movies, but in 2009 she had a small role in Confessions of a Shopaholic and landed a recurring role on the cable series Royal Pains.
John Putch (Actor)
Born: January 01, 1961
Trivia: The son of actress Jean Stapleton and theatrical director William H. Putch, John Putch made some of his earliest acting appearances with his dad's summer-theatre troupe, the Totem Pole Players. Putch's first recorded TV credit was as a boy scout on All in the Family, which of course co-starred his mom Jean. Mother and son went on to co-star in the tense made-for-TV movie Angel Dusted (1981). On his own, Putch co-starred in Jaws 3-D (1983) as the grown-up son of the Roy Scheider character (who doesn't appear in this sequel), and worked steadily on TV, playing Bob Morton on One Day at a Time (1975-85) and Matt on Room for Two (1992). More recently, John Putch participated in a well-circulated series of cellular-phone TV commercials.
