Played in a band as a teenager and dropped out of high school in his senior year to pursue a career in music. Returned to finish high school at age 19. Was inspired to pursue acting by reading King Lear. Performed with the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario. His wife, Nanci Chambers, appeared with him on CBS's JAG as Lt. Loren Singer. The pair also costarred in the 2003 made-for-TV movie Code 11-14. An avid runner, he completed the Boston Marathon in 2004. In 2010, spent two weeks in Ecuador with his family to study the people and culture.

Trivia:
Willowy Canadian leading lady Rosemary Forsyth was signed to a Universal contract after modelling assignments and TV bits. Her first films found Forsyth cast opposite leading men who weren't self-conscious about her 5'9" frame: James Stewart in Shenandoah (1965) and Charlton Heston in The War Lord (1965). Taking a sabbatical from films in 1966 to have a baby, Forsyth returned before the cameras for 1969's Where It's At. Rosemary Forsyth was seen in only a handful of theatrical films thereafter, but remained a frequent visitor to television, showing up in TV movies, daytime dramas, and the famous 1981 "Bomb Threat" episode of WKRP in Cincinnati.

In 1992, refurbished an old vaudeville house and transformed it into a performance hall called Arroyo Outback Theatre for various types of artists. Played the role of Gustin in Saturn Returns at South Coast Repertory in 2009. Is a member of the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema Grand Jury and Board of Advisors. Directed a stage production of The Odd Couple, the profits of which benefited the Idyllwild HELP Center. Was honored with the Joni Award from Idyllwild. Won a California Newspaper Publishers Award and a National Newspaper Publishers Award for his local column in a small-town newspaper. Founded and teaches at the Actors Refuge studio in Los Angeles.
