First film role was playing a criminal in the 1998 film, One Last Shot. Rose in prominence in 2006 playing Julian in the comedy Trailer Park Boys. In 2011, toured with his Trailer Park Boys co-stars for the live comedy tour, Drunk, High & Unemployed. Played a Mountie/Terrorist in a 2012 episode of the animated comedy, Archer. Used to own a chain of pizza restaurants with Trailer Park Boys co-star Robb Wells called JR Capone's.

Is a distant cousin of the former Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper. Is best known for playing Ricky in the comedy series, Trailer Park Boys. Worked as a mall Santa at a local department store in the 1970s. In 1971, co-founded Pier One Theatre located on the Halifax waterfront, the city's first alternative theatre company. Outspoken advocate against Video Lottery Terminals in Nova Scotia; appears in the 2009 documentary Playing the Machines, detailing his struggles as a former addict. Released an audio book of short stories in 2010 titled Stories, highlighting comedic moments from his childhood, family and career. Volunteers for a number of organizations, including the Ecology Action Centre, Clean Nova Scotia, Metro Housing Association and the Terry Fox Run.
