Trivia: Considered entering the priesthood before his grandfather encouraged him to become an actor; later played a frustrated priest in Ballykissangel. Was classmates with James Nesbitt and Rufus Sewell at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London. Won the Best TV Comedy Actor award at the 1994 British Comedy Awards for Drop the Dead Donkey.
