Is multilingual, speaking English, French and some Arabic. Was cohost of Popular Mechanics for Kids, along with Elisha Cuthbert from the series 24. Voiced the character of Emily for nine seasons on the PBS children's show Arthur. As an adult, had her first major TV role in the coming-of-age series American Dreams. Was surprised to learn, during the second season of the TNT series Hawthorne, that her character was a lesbian. In 2011, was cast in Glee as Sugar Motta, a tone-deaf member of the glee club with "self-diagnosed Asperger's." Her casting came three years after her friend and fellow Glee castmate Corey Monteith showed her the pilot script.
