Jill Whelan enjoyed an acting career as a child star, with a seven-season (1979-1986) portrayal of Vicki, Captain Merrill Stubing's young daughter, on the prime-time ABC situation comedy The Love Boat. After the series wrapped in 1986, Whelan returned for a number of Love Boat telemovies, acted in regional theater, and played a regular role on the daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless. Astute movie buffs may remember Whelan for a brief but memorable big-screen contribution that happened during her Love Boat tenure: she also portrayed Lisa Davis, the ailing child sent into convulsions when a singing nun knocks out her I.V., in the Zucker-Abrams-Zucker farce Airplane! (1980).

On stage from 1957, American actor Andy Romano made his film bow two years later. Romano's earlier assignments included the part of J.D., a member of Eric Von Zipper's "Rat Pack," in several of American-International's Beach Party movies. He later played lawmen and crooks, both comic and otherwise. On TV, Andy Romano played Detective Joe Caruso in Get Christie Love! (1975) and Frank Richards in Friends (the 1979 "teen angst" sitcom, not the current NBC hit).

African American actress Janet MacLachlan began appearing in films in 1968, usually in such "relevance"-oriented productions as Uptight (1968) and tick...tick...tick (1970). MacLachlan went on to co-star on TV as suburbanite Jackie Bruce in the weekly sitcom Love Thy Neighbor, then was seen in the 1979 TVer Friends as Mrs. Jane Summerfield. Her best-known TV role was as caustic housekeeper Polly Swanson in the 1980-81 episodes of Archie Bunker's Place. Janet MacLachlan's 1990s credits include character roles in the theatrical feature Hearts and Souls (1993) and the made-for-cable movie Tuskegee Airmen (1995).
