Stuart Townsend
(Actor)
.. Lestat
Born:
December 15, 1972
Birthplace: Dublin, Ireland
Trivia:
Born December 15th, 1972, Stuart Townsend would grow up to possess the kind of dark, coolly seductive looks that lend themselves to playing either ladies' men or raving psychos, {Townsend is one of the more compelling actors to have emerged from Ireland during the 1990s. A native of Dublin, Townsend was born to pro golfer Peter Townsend and Lorna Townsend, a well-known former model who died in 1994. He first became interested in performing through his then-girlfriend, who was studying at the Gaiety School of Acting. Townsend also enrolled at the school and made his stage debut in the school's production of Tear Up the Black Sail. He made his professional stage debut in John Crowley's True Lines. In 1996, Townsend broke onto the screen with his role in Gillies MacKinnon's Trojan Eddie. Portraying a seductive young man who steals away a bride from her groom on their wedding day, Townsend was afforded the opportunity to work with the legendary Richard Harris. His exposure in the film led to his first starring role, in Shooting Fish (1997), a successful comedy which cast him as a sweet-natured con man. That same year, Townsend had a supporting role in Carine Adler's acclaimed drama Under the Skin, engaging in emotional dysfunction and phone sex with the film's heroine. He also made a terrifying impression in the Irish crime thriller Resurrection Man, playing a psychotic killer. Townsend subsequently extended his talents to period drama, portraying an impoverished Jew in 19th century Silesia in Simon Magus (1998) and essaying a dual role in the 16th- and 20th century-set The Venice Project (1999). In 1999, he was also visible in Michael Winterbottom's Wonderland, an ensemble drama that screened at that year's Cannes Film Festival. The turnover to the new millennium found Townsend with some big shoes to fill as he stepped into the role of Anne Rice's staple bloodsucker Lestat (originally portrayed by Tom Cruise in Neil Jordan's Interview With the Vampire (1994) in 2002. Baring his fangs alongside co-star and title character Aaliyah (who perished in an airplane crash shortly before the film opened in theaters) Townsend recieved a fair amount of praise for his role in the film, which was previously rumored to have been heading for a straight to video release. In 2005 he joined the cast of ABC's Night Stalker for a role as an investigative reporter determined to catch the person responsible for his wife's murder.
Aaliyah
(Actor)
.. Akasha
Born:
January 16, 1979
Died:
August 25, 2001
Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York, United States
Trivia:
Young R&B star Aaliyah was poised to become a dual threat in both the recording and film industries when her life was tragically cut short in an airplane accident in August 2001.She was born Aaliyah Haughton on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn and moved to Detroit when she was five. By the time she turned nine, Aaliyah was performing publicly, even turning in a five-day stint at age 11 in Las Vegas with Gladys Knight, her uncle's ex-wife. Four years later, under the tutelage of R. Kelly, she recorded and released her first album, Age Ain't Nothin' but a Number. During this time, rumors surfaced that the pair married despite their significant age difference (and Aaliyah's status as a minor), but neither party confirmed or denied them, although the music magazine Vibe printed what appeared to be a marriage certificate showing it to be true.Aaliyah quickly ended the marriage and moved on to work with producers Missy Elliot and Timbaland, who helped get some of her work onto soundtracks -- including her hit single "Are You That Somebody?" from the Dr. Doolittle soundtrack. Her work on soundtracks -- including Anastasia and Next Friday -- led to an interest in film. She composed songs and made her acting debut in 2000's Romeo Must Die. The film was a financial success, raking in 55.9 million dollars in the U.S., despite receiving lukewarm reviews. As for Aaliyah, many reviewers overlooked her performance to comment on Jet Li's first American leading role, but those who didn't gave her more-than-passable marks. This attention helped her win parts in the Anne Rice vampire tale The Queen of the Damned -- which turned out to be her second and final film appearance (with the film still in post-production at the time of her death) -- and in The Matrix: Reloaded (the first sequel to the 1999 blockbuster The Matrix), which was only one month away from beginning principal photography when her fatal accident occurred.Aaliyah and eight other people were killed on August 25, 2001, when their chartered plane crashed shortly after takeoff. The group was returning to the United States from the Bahamas after having shot a music video for a song from her third album. An investigation into the incident revealed that the plane had been severely overloaded with luggage, thus causing what appears to have been an entirely avoidable and unmistakably tragic accident.
Marguerite Moreau
(Actor)
.. Jesse Reeves
Born:
April 25, 1977
Birthplace: Riverside, California, United States
Trivia:
A veteran of numerous television series and the Mighty Ducks franchise, Marguerite Moreau got her start in the entertainment business when most of her peers were busy navigating the rough waters of the sixth grade. Moreau, who was born in California on April 25, 1977, got her first break on television with a bit part in an episode of The Wonder Years, and subsequently landed work on Blossom. She made her film debut at the age of 14 in The Mighty Ducks (1992), and reprised her role for the successful comedy's two sequels. In between filming The Mighty Ducks trilogy, Moreau found more work on TV and in such kid-friendly fare as Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home (1995). In 1997 she got a crack at more adult-oriented content with a bit part in the political satire Wag the Dog, and followed that with another small part in Mighty Joe Young (1998).After earning a degree in Political Science from Vassar College, Moreau began appearing in more substantial roles in films ranging from Robert Mickelson's Off the Lip (2000) to Wet Hot American Summer (2001), a Meatballs-esque summer camp exploitation flick that starred Janeane Garofalo and David Hyde Pierce. She then sunk her teeth, so to speak, into the role of a lusty vampire wannabe in Queen of the Damned (2002), which starred the singer Aaliyah in her first and last screen role before her untimely 2001 death.Moreau continued to toggle between the big and small screens, appearing as Gene Hackman's assistant in Runaway Jury (2003); earning praise for her role as a licentious twentysomething in the festival favorite Easy (2003); practicing her tics as Sadie Atkins in the made-for-TV remake of the made-for-TV classic Helter Skelter (2004); and appearing as a high school English teacher/object of teen desire in the acclaimed ABC series Life As We Know It. In the years to come, Moreau would find no shortage of success on screen, with roles on What About Brian and Shameless, as well as movies like Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Life Happens, and Caroline and Jackie.

While still in drama school, Olin made her Swedish film debut in Karleken (1980). Two of her next three films were made by Bergman: Fanny and Alexander (1983) and After the Rehearsal (1984); her part in the latter was created for her by Bergman. She also did a four-hour Swedish TV film, Hebriana. Her English-language film debut was in The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988). For her second English-language role, that of a survivor of a Nazi death camp in Paul Mazursky's Enemies, A Love Story (1989), Olin received a New York Film Critics award and an Oscar nomination. He was also a regular (together with fellow "newcomers" Didi Conn, Charles Fleischer, Wayland Flowers and Jack Riley) on the 1975 summer-replacement laughfest Keep on Trucking. In theatrical films, Franklin Ajaye has enlivened such noisy farces as Car Wash (1977) and The 'Burbs (1990).
