The Fat Boys (Actor)
Ralph Bellamy (Actor) .. Albert Dennison
Born: June 17, 1904
Died: November 29, 1991
Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois, United States
Trivia: From his late teens to his late 20s, Ralph Bellamy worked with 15 different traveling stock companies, not just as an actor but also as a director, producer, set designer, and prop handler. In 1927 he started his own company, the Ralph Bellamy Players. He debuted on Broadway in 1929, then broke into films in 1931. He went on to play leads in dozens of B-movies; he also played the title role in the "Ellery Queen" series. For his work in The Awful Truth (1937) he received an Oscar nomination, playing the "other man" who loses the girl to the hero; he was soon typecast in this sort of role in sophisticated comedies. After 1945 his film work was highly sporadic as he changed his focus to the stage, going on to play leads in many Broadway productions; for his portrayal of FDR in Sunrise at Campobello (1958) he won a Tony Award and the New York Drama Critics Award. From 1940-60 he served on the State of California Arts Commission. From 1952-64 he was the president of Actors' Equity. In 1986 he was awarded an honorary Oscar "for his unique artistry and his distinguished service to the profession of acting." He authored an autobiography, When the Smoke Hits the Fan (1979).
Tony Geary (Actor) .. Winslow Lowry
Born: May 29, 1947
Birthplace: Coalville, Utah, United States
Trivia: University of Utah alumnus Anthony Geary was in soap operas almost from his matriculation into professional acting. His first TV role was on the long-forgotten ABC daytime drama Bright Promise in 1969; he also made his film bow that year, in the equally obscure Blood Sabbath. Not quite dashing enough for leading-man roles, Geary settled early on for character roles, ranging from fey (he was mistaken for a homosexual by Archie Bunker on a 1971 All in the Family episode) to ferocious. When cast as Luke Spencer on General Hospital in 1978, Geary was at first going through his standard villainous paces, sexually assaulting the married Laura Baldwyn (Genie Francis). Audience response to Luke, however, was astonishingly positive, and soon the antiheroic Mr. Spencer was a good guy (albeit with shady underworld connections), eventually making daytime TV ratings history when he married Laura in November of 1981. Geary ended up winning a 1982 Emmy for his fascinating performance as Luke. He left General Hospital in 1984 to pursue other career vistas; he headlined his own nightclub act, the "Smut Queens," and also starred in theatrical productions (in his pre-Luke years, Geary performed with the touring company of Jesus Christ Superstar). His plans for film stardom dwindled to silly supporting parts in sillier films, notably Disorderlies (1988) and UHF (1989). Geary returned to General Hospital in 1990 -- not as Luke, but as Luke's cousin Bill Eckert (complete with Italian-Teutonic accent). Anthony Geary at last resigned himself to reviving the Luke Spencer character, beginning with General Hospital's 1993-94 season.
Tony Plana (Actor) .. Miguel
Born: April 19, 1952
Birthplace: Havana, Cuba
Trivia: The slightly gritty and wizened Cuban-American actor Tony Plana boasts a resumé that is no less than extraordinary. Whatever the limitations of Hispanic typecasting, Plana soared high above them from the time of his debut in the early '80s, seeking out roles in several of Hollywood's most respected and venerable films -- ethnically themed and otherwise. He first culled attention as Rudy in Luis Valdez's stylized, theatrical period piece Zoot Suit (1981), starring a then-unknown Edward James Olmos. Plana's subsequent efforts read like a best-of early-'80s cinema; he tackled An Officer and a Gentleman (1982), Love and Money (1982), Valley Girl (1983), and El Norte (1983), all within a few years of one another. Plana was particularly effective as Fr. Manuel Morantes in John Duigan's wondrous, overlooked biopic Romero (1989, about archbishop and activist Oscar Romero) and as Carlos Bringuier in Oliver Stone's JFK (1991). In the 2000s, Plana unveiled a heightened interest in television, gracing the casts of such series as Ally McBeal and The Drew Carey Show as an occasional guest performer. Plana is best known to younger viewers, however, for two small-screen portrayals: that of cutthroat terrorist Omar in 24, and -- on a very different note, Ignacio -- the widower dad of the title character -- on the comedy drama Ugly Betty. Educationally, Plana trained in the drama programs at Loyola Marymount University and London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He made the leap from acting to directing with two projects: A Million to Juan (1994, co-helmed with Paul Rodriguez) and The Princess and the Barrio Boy (2000). The latter constitutes Plana's directorial debut. It tells of a young well-to-do Hispanic woman (Marisol Nichols) who bucks convention by falling for a working-class boy, and simultaneously attempts to stand in the way of her father's marriage to a wicked lover.

Fat Boys (Actor)
Trivia: The Fat Boys (Damon Wimbley, Dareen Robinson, and Mark Morales) were among the first rap music artists to find mainstream popularity. The talented and portly trio made occasional feature-film appearances as themselves. In 1987, they dabbled in acting with the comedy Disorderlies. The threesome also appeared in Krush Groove (1985) and Knights of the City (1985). The group split in 1989. Plans for a reunion were squashed in 1995 when the 450-pound Robinson (aka "the Human Beat Box" and "Buff Love") died suddenly of a heart attack due to a respiratory ailment.
