FDR wins a fourth term in office and begins planning for a peaceful postwar world, but dies from a cerebral hemorrhage on April 12, 1945, less than a month before the end of the war in Europe. After his death, Eleanor becomes a champion of civil rights, civil liberties and the United Nations. Following her 1962 death, she is mourned as the First Lady of the World.
