Shaun Toub (Actor)
Atossa Leoni (Actor)
Ahmad Khan Mahmoodzada (Actor)
Trivia: Onscreen performer Ahmad Khan Mahmoodzada took one of his premier onscreen bows as a child star, with his portrayal of Hassan, a young boy coming of age in Kabul, Afghanistan, who is heartbreakingly betrayed by his best friend, in Marc Forster's critically praised drama The Kite Runner (2007).
Khalid Abdalla (Actor)
Born: October 26, 1981
Birthplace: Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
Trivia: Born in Scotland and raised in England as the son of Egyptian parents, actor Khalid Abdalla drew from his own familial lineage to tackle Middle Eastern roles in Hollywood productions, but made a conscious and aggressive attempt to cut against the grain of associated onscreen stereotypes. He later expressed an understandable reluctance to take his first part when it was offered to him -- that of Ziad Jarrah, the Lebanese hijacker responsible for the takeover of United Flight 93 on September 11th -- in Paul Greengrass' docudrama United 93, but a tête-à-tête with maverick director Greengrass (who had no interest in perpetuating stereotypes or prejudices, but instead sought to capture the human side of each character presented) immediately changed Abdalla's opinion. Indeed, the actor received widespread critical kudos for his work in that acclaimed production. He followed it up with the lead in an equally promising film -- director Marc Forster's much-anticipated Khaled Hosseini adaptation The Kite Runner (2007), about a life-changing friendship that blossoms between two Afghani young men.
Zekiria Ebrahimi (Actor)
Trivia: Actor Zekiria Ebrahimi gained recognition as a child star for his debut portrayal of the young Amir, a boy growing up in Kabul whose life takes an irrevocable turn when he is forever torn apart from his best friend, in Marc Forster's sweeping adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's novel, The Kite Runner (2007).
Homayoun Ershadi (Actor)
Born: March 25, 1947
Trivia: Actor Homayoun Ershadi debuted onscreen in the late '90s, and spent the majority of his first decade as a film actor tackling assignments -- mostly lead roles -- in his native Iran. In that sphere, Ershadi worked for some of the most acclaimed of all contemporary Persian directors, including Abbas Kiarostami (The Taste of Cherry), Dariush Mehrjui (Derakht-E Golabi), and Ramin Mohseini (Az Dourdast). Ershadi gained particularly widespread acclaim for the deliberate and elliptical Cherry, in which he portrays a despondent middle-aged man on a cross-country suicide mission. The actor then signed on to portray Baba, a loving father to a young Afghani boy, in Marc Forster's critically acclaimed drama The Kite Runner (2007), adapted from the novel by Khaled Hosseini.

Born: March 04, 1965
Saïd Taghmaoui (Actor) .. Farid
Born: July 19, 1973
Birthplace: Villepinte, Seine-Saint-Denis, France
Trivia: Though born in France, actor Saïd Taghmaoui's ethnic origins and exotic, ruggedly handsome look predestined him for being typecast in Middle Eastern roles. Significantly, Taghmaoui's multilingualism also liberated him from the confines of stardom in one particular country, and he found it relatively easy to rack up assignments on multiple continents, initially in bit parts or supporting capacities. Memorable international crossover successes that starred the actor included Gillies MacKinnon's period drama Hideous Kinky (1998), David O. Russell's Gulf War adventure Three Kings (1999), Neil Jordan's Bob le Flambeur remake The Good Thief (2003), and the Jeffrey Nachmanoff unglamorized spy film Traitor (2008). Also in 2008, Taghmaoui signed on to play Breaker in the big-screen feature G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra (2009). In the years to come, Taghmaoui would remain active on screen, appearing in films like Stranded.
