Mike Krzyzewski (Actor)
Born: February 13, 1947
Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois, United States
Trivia: Served in the Army from 1969-74 and retired as a captain. Was an assistant to Indiana University coach Bobby Knight, who was Krzyzewski's coach at West Point. Named head coach at West Point in 1975. Named head coach at Duke University in 1980. Won five NCAA Division 1 Men's National Championships with Duke in 1991, 1992, 2001, 2010 and 2015. Only the third coach ever to win four or more NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Championships. He ranks behind only John Wooden (10 titles). Was an assistant on the U.S. Dream Team that won the Olympic gold medal in basketball in 1992. Named to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001. Was the head coach of the U.S. men's gold-winning national teams at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2015, became the first NCAA Division I men's basketball coach to reach 1,000 wins.

Trivia: Recruited by coach Mike Krzyzewski and Duke as part of a stellar 1982 class that revitalized the program and starred on Coach K's first Final Four team, in 1986. Tallied 1062 points and 692 rebounds as a four-year starter. Drafted by the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, but wound up playing professionally in Europe (Italy, Spain) for three years. Appeared in an episode of TV's The White Shadow (as a teen) and in the 1990 film I Come in Peace, as well as several national commercials, including an ad for Minolta cameras. Served as an assistant coach to Krzyzewski while attending Duke Law School from 1989 to 1992, ending each season in the NCAA championship game, with wins in 1991 and 1992. Recipient of the Distinguished Young Alumni Award from Duke Law School. Developed into one of most respected voices on college basketball as an analyst with ESPN and CBS, regularly appearing on College GameDay and ESPN's coverage of the NBA Draft. Maintains a litigation practice with the office of Moore & Van Allen in Charlotte. Has coached military basketball teams in Kuwait as part of "Operation Hardwood---Hoops With the Troops."

Trivia: Was cocaptain of the basketball team and captain of the golf team in high school. Shared a suite with golfers Fred Couples and Blaine McCallister in the athletic dorm at the University of Houston. Was public-address announcer for the Houston Astros and Houston Cougars while in college; was the voice of Brigham Young football while working as a local sportscaster in Salt Lake City. Joined CBS in 1985 as a studio host for college football. Began anchoring coverage of the Masters in 1989. Was named the National Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in 1998, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the University of Houston in 2001. Received the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Curt Gowdy Media Award in 2002. Was the first commentator to complete the rare broadcasting feat of calling the Super Bowl, the NCAA Men's Final Four basketball championship, and the Masters golf tournament in a span of 63 days in 2007; repeated the feat in 2010. In 2011 created with Houston's Methodist Hospital the Nantz National Alzheimer Center.
