Will Arnett
(Actor)
.. Frank
Born:
May 04, 1970
Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Trivia:
After almost a decade of starring in failed pilots, Toronto-born Will Arnett finally hit pay dirt in 2003 when Fox picked up Arrested Development, an irreverent sitcom that cast him as a spoiled rich kid-turned-aspiring illusionist. While the show struggled in ratings, it won loads of critical praise and garnered an incredibly loyal fan base that helped keep it on the air for three seasons before Fox finally gave up and pulled the plug. In the wake of Arrested Development's cancellation, Arnett quickly and smoothly transitioned into big-screen work. His first starring role came in 2006 with the comedy Let's Go to Prison! Though the film failed to find success at the box office, Arnett's momentum wasn't hampered in the least. In 2007, his film career exploded with supporting roles in Blades of Glory, Hot Rod, and Ratatouille, and a starring slot opposite Saturday Night Live's Will Forte in The Brothers Solomon. That same year also saw Arnett starting a scene-stealing recurring role on NBC's 30 Rock and a memorable voice-over cameo in Edgar Wright's faux-trailer contribution to Grindhouse, "Don't."Thanks to his distinctive deep voice, Arnett found steady work in animated films including Ratatouille, Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who, Monsters vs. Aliens, Despicable Me, and The Lego Movie. He had a failed sitcom, Running Wilde, in 2010 that was cancelled after just one season, but he quickly found himself as the lead on the NBC sitcom Up All Night opposite Christina Applegate, a show that did earn a second season before it too was cancelled. Arnett tried again with the CBS comedy The Millers in 2013 and also reprised his role in the resurrected fourth season of Arrested Development on Netflix.
Natasha Lyonne
(Actor)
.. Mattie
Born:
April 04, 1979
Birthplace: New York, New York, United States
Trivia:
With her wild curls, gawky build, and street-smart attitude, Natasha Lyonne presents a refreshing departure from the many blow-dried, plasticized young actors of her generation. Since appearing in Woody Allen's Everyone Says I Love You in 1996, Lyonne has consistently wowed critics with her intelligent, no-nonsense portrayals of teenage girls who are anything but typical.Born into a conservative Jewish family on April 4, 1979, in New York City, Lyonne spent her childhood in New York and Israel. She broke into show business early with her role as Opal on Pee-Wee's Playhouse (1986). Her first film of any import (aside from Heartburn (1986), in which she had an uncredited role) was 1993's Dennis the Menace. It was her next film, Everyone Says I Love You, that won Lyonne initial recognition. Critics praised her portrayal of Woody Allen's daughter, praise that was magnified with her role in Tamara Jenkins' The Slums of Beverly Hills (1998). The film won almost unanimous critical praise, as did Lyonne's endearingly jaded portrayal of Vivian Abramowitz. The success of Slums was inversely proportional to that of Lyonne's next film, Krippendorf's Tribe, which also starred Richard Dreyfuss and Jenna Elfman. However, the disappointment of that movie was more than made up for by Lyonne's following project, the very successful American Pie. As the wise and weary Jessica, Lyonne, in the minds of many critics, stole the show with her all-too limited appearance. Fortunately, thanks to both the film's success and her consistently solid performances, it was virtually ensured that critics and audiences alike would be able to see a great deal more of her, though her roles in the sequels American Pie 2 and Scary Movie 2 amounted to little more than glorified cameos, almost unrecognizably so in the case of the latter.

Ann Blyth

.. VIP Bar Guest
Born:
August 16, 1928
Trivia:
A radio singer at age 5, American actress Ann Blyth studied for an operatic career, making her debut in this endeavor with the San Carlo Opera Company. In 1943, at age 15, Ann was playing Paul Lukas' daughter in the Broadway production Watch on the Rhine; two years later she was under contract to Universal studios as the latest in that company's "threats" against their recalcitrant resident soprano Deanna Durbin. Blyth wasn't given anything close to a chance to show her talents until she was cast as Joan Crawford's hateful daughter Veda in Mildred Pierce (1945). For this performance, which ran the gamut from thinly veiled insults addressed at Crawford to the murder of her mother's paramour (Zachary Scott), she was nominated for an Academy Award. After recovering from a back injury, Blyth worked ceaselessly in films, alternating between sappily sweet parts in such fluff as Free for All (1949) and Sally and St. Anne (1951) and tougher assignments like the white-hot truculence expended in her portrayal of Regina Hubbard in Another Part of the Forest (1948). Perhaps the most off-kilter of her starring roles was in Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid (1948) wherein she played the female half of the title, spending much of the film in a state of (implied) toplessness. In 1954, she was finally permitted to display her beautifully trained voice in such musicals as The Student Prince (1954), Rose Marie (1955) and Kismet (1956). But when called upon to play a real-life songstress in The Helen Morgan Story (1957), she was dubbed by Gogi Grant! Helen Morgan Story was Blyth's final film role; she spent the rest of her career on stage, TV and in concert - and, in the late 1970s, she showed up as the surprisingly domesticated spokesperson for Hostess Cupcakes.
