Gregorio yields to Cardenas's blackmail, allowing the police to keep his involvement in the ex-soldier's murder hidden. While Antonia insists he should kill Pedro Ramirez, Gregorio trusts in his alliance with Cornelius and the Nazi delegate. However, the latter reveals to his associates that he has chosen Ramirez as a new partner in the German government's smuggling operation in Chile.
