Birthplace: Bronx, New York, United States
Trivia: He debuted onscreen in The Blackbord Jungle (1955) as a sadistic high school student, and after several years he moved up to starring roles. He often played vicious bad guys. He starred in the '60s TV series Combat. In the mid '60s he directed several off-Broadway plays and a couple of short films, then directed, co-produced, and co-wrote the film Deathwatch (1966), adapted from a Jean Genet play; after directing another feature he returned to acting, having gone eight years between screen roles. In 1982 he was killed by the blades of a helicopter while filming an action sequence in the film Twilight Zone: The Movie. He was the father of actress Jennifer Jason Leigh.

George Savalas (Actor) .. Pvt. Cooper

Trivia: Greco-American actor George Savalas is best remembered for co-starring with his more famous brother, Telly Savalas, on the popular television detective show Kojak between 1973 and 1978. George played Detective Stavros to Telly's Kojak and was billed as Demosthenes in the end credits to avoid confusion with the elder Savalas. George learned his craft in a college drama school and before making it to the small screen, was himself an acting instructor. Savalas got his start on Dick Powell Theater, and went on to guest star on other series. He has appeared in a few films including Ghengis Kahn (1965) and Kelly's Heroes (1970). Savalas has also occasionally appeared in off-Broadway plays.

Trivia: Many research sources arbitrarily begin the list of French actor Eugene Borden's films in 1936. In fact, Borden first showed up on screen as early as 1917. Seldom afforded billing, the actor was nonetheless instantly recognizable in his many appearances as headwaiters, porters, pursers and coachmen. Along with several other stalwart European character actors, Borden was cast in a sizeable role in the above-average Columbia "B" So Dark the Night (1946). Musical buffs will recall Eugene Borden as Gene Kelly and Oscar Levant's landlord in An American in Paris (1951).
