United States Marshal (renamed from Sheriff of Cochise) is a crime drama set in Tuscon, Arizona about a U.S. Marshal fighting crime. After "U.S. Marshal" ended its run in 1960, both it and its predecessor series "The Sheriff of Cochise" were syndicated under the unified title "The Man from Cochise". This series was created when the title character of the 1956-58 TV series The Sheriff of Cochise (1956), a role also played by John Bromfield, accepted the position of U.S.

Trivia: Born in South Bend, Indiana, athletic, barrel-voiced leading man John Bromfield was brought to Hollywood by Paramount Pictures in 1948. While at Paramount, Bromfield was briefly married to actress Corinne Calver. Languishing in second-string films throughout the 1950s, Bromfield at last became a star when he was cast in the lucrative syndicated TV series Sheriff of Cochise (1956). In 1958, this series metamorphosed into US Marshal, which ran until 1960. A widely renowned hunting enthusiast John Bromfield was, from the mid-1950s to the early 1980s, the master of ceremonies at Chicago's annual Sportsman's Show.

Trivia: Sharp-featured character actor James Griffith set out in life to be a professional musician. He eased into acting instead, working the little-theatre route in his hometown of Los Angeles. In 1939, Griffith appeared in his first professional production, They Can't Get You Down. Following World War II service, he made his first film, Black Ice (1946). Steadily employed in westerns, James Griffith was generally cast as an outlaw, save for a few comparative good-guy assignments such as Sheriff Pat Garrett in The Law vs. Billy the Kid (1954).
