Keegan-michael Key (Actor)
Born: March 22, 1971
Birthplace: Detroit, MIchigan, United States
Trivia: Says he was "painfully shy" as a child. Was trained as a Shakespearean actor, but became interested in comedy after he was exposed to improv in college. First TV appearance was in a 1994 episode of ER. Returned to Detroit in 1997 and joined the Second City as a performer and writer. Has received multiple Joseph Jefferson Awards, given to honor achievement in Chicago theater. A founding member of the Planet Ant Theatre.
Jordan Peele (Actor)
Born: February 21, 1979
Birthplace: New York, New York, United States
Trivia: Intended to be a puppeteer in college, but dropped out to study comedy, including a stint with Boom Chicago in Amsterdam; while on a cast swap with Second City in Chicago in 2002, met his future comedic partner Keegan-Michael Key. Before the premiere of Key & Peele on Comedy Central in 2012, overlapped with Key for several seasons in the cast of MADtv. Unsuccessfully auditioned to play Barack Obama on Saturday Night Live in 2008 (the role went to Fred Armisen), but would earn acclaim for impersonating the president on Key & Peele in 2012. Like Key, has a black father and a white mother, a biracial status that provides a unique cultural sensitivity and informs much of their comedy.
Houston Alexander (Actor)
James Livingston (Actor)
Derek Mears (Actor)
Born: April 29, 1972
Trivia: With a tough, imposing, and thoroughly frightening presence -- accentuated by his muscular build, deep-set eyes, and bald head -- Derek Mears fit the bill for menacing roles in Hollywood. He remained active from the mid-'90s on, dividing his time between grueling, physically demanding stunt work -- in big-budget Hollywood outings such as World Trade Center (2006) and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) -- and on-camera character turns as thugs, hoods, muggers, creepy villains, and occasional psychopaths. Mears' career culminated with the remakes of two iconic slasher movies: The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007), in which his appearance seemed to evoke the presence of Michael Berryman's Pluto from the two original Wes Craven Hills movies; and producer Michael Bay's remake Friday the 13th (2009), where he played the hockey mask-wearing, machete-wielding serial killer Jason Voorhees.
