When his car breaks down it seems like the final straw but Willie takes a cab and finds something on the back seat that might be the answer to his prayers, or the beginning of his downfall.

Episode 2 - Episode 2Frankie's Story - After getting in trouble while out on a night on the town Frankie Nash decides to follow his best-mate Peter McShane into the army. They are deployed to Afghanistan where, after a terrifying incident Lance Corporal Buckley (Mackenzie Crook) instigates a bullying campaign against Peter. Frankie is forced to join in the humiliation of his friend and the subsequent events are dire for everyone.

Episode 3 - Episode 3Helen's Story - Primary school teacher Helen (Juliet Stephenson) sends her son off to his first day temping at a local factory. Unfortunately he is fatally injured, yet it is only later that night that Helen and her husband hear the dreadful news. She knows something is wrong but becomes frustrated by attempts to uncover what really happened. Striking out against the factory owner Helen commits a serious crime.

Together with his friends, the Richmond brothers, Kenny sets out to find the culprit. Their actions have terrible consequences and the three friends are arrested.

Her marriage is in under great strain and a growing relationship with a work colleague only makes things worse. Matters reach a head and Alison's husband conspires with his father against her. With the custody of the children at stake she fights back.
