Cagney and Lacey both have differing recollections when it comes to the events surrounding a young officer fatally shooting a civilian.

Lacey becomes worried when Cagney becomes obsessed with catching notorious jewel thief Albert Grand, who despite committing several hotel safe robberies has never been convicted.

Detective Victor Isbecki's cover is blown during an investigation of a dangerous car theft ring and he becomes a hostage. Cagney and Lacey must work to help save him, while coming to terms with their own failures in the investigation.
Episode 219 - Let Them Eat Pretzels

Cagney and Lacey find what should be a simple hit-and-run accident becomes deeply complicated when the son of a diplomat becomes involved. The team must figure out how to arrest the son, while the father attempts to stop them.
Episode 220 - The Gang's All There

While out at a bar celebrating Petrie's promotion, the 14th precinct is robbed of their guns, shields, and possessions. The team then works furiously to find the perpetrators after they become the laughing stock of the entire NYPD.
Episode 221 - Cry For Help

Cagney and Lacey are assigned to investigate a wife-beating case and discover that the victim's husband is a cop and former classmate of Lacey's. Meanwhile the team also has to find a way to charge a con man after they are forced to let him go.
Episode 222 - The Informant

Cagney and Lacey run into an issue with their drug investigation when it turns out that their teenage informant is a perpetrator of the crimes himself. They are then faced with the dilemma of releasing a one criminal in order to arrest another.
