Episode 1 - Downtown As Fruits / Eugene's BikeArnold and Gerald are cast as a banana and a strawberry in their school play which is written and directed by Helga. / Arnold wrecks Eugene's brand new bike. |
Episode 1 - Season 1, Episode 1: Downtown As Fruits / Eugene's BikeArnold and Gerald are cast as a banana and a strawberry in their school play, "The Four Food Groups", written and directed by Helga. Humiliated by Helga's treatment during rehearsals and dressed in their costumes for the evening performance, Arnold and Gerald decide to miss their stop and the opening of the play. Instead of the bus turning around at the end of the line as Gerald predicts, Arnold and Gerald find themselves stranded downtown dressed in their fruit suits. Arnold inadvertently wrecks Eugene's brand new bike. Guilt ridden, Arnold rebuilds the bike but forgets to install the brake cable and Eugene crashes -- wrecking the bike again. Things go from bad to worse as Arnold tries again and again to make it up to Eugene. |
Episode 2 - The Little Pink Book / Field TripHelga accidentally drops her journal full of love poems about Arnold into a pile of Gerald's books. Arnold and Gerald discover the journal and are astounded to find Arnold the object of such ardor. The boys are determined to find out who wrote the poems. Meanwhile, Helga desperately tries to recover the journal before Arnold reads the last page -- the one with her signature on it. Arnold's class goes on a field trip to the aquarium where Arnold waits in anticipation to see Lockjaw, the infamous "terror of the deep." When Lockjaw turns out to be an old tortoise with a graffiti covered shell, the other kids make fun of him and pelt his shell with garbage. Arnold feels sorry for him and conspires with Grandma to free the 400 hundred pound tortoise. |

Arnold has to retrieve the football from the lair of the legendary Stoop Kid -- a bully who, according to neighborhood legend, pounds anyone who sets foot upon his domain. Arnold learns the Stoop Kid can't leave his stoop and the rest of the neighborhood bully the Stoop Kid in return. Arnold secretly helps the Stoop Kid overcome his fears and come down off his stoop. |
