Thomas Malone returns to Shetland after 23 years in jail for murder. His release coincides with the murder of local journalist Sally McColl. Perez must investigate both cases.
Episode 2 - Episode 2

The hunt is on for Malone’s attacker. Tosh investigates Først Energy in the hunt for Sally’s killer and DNA testing in the Kilmuir case yields a surprising result.
Episode 3 - Episode 3

Perez questions Donna on the DNA result. Tosh arrives in Norway to track down Hagan. An unexpected twist leads Perez and Tosh into the murky world of the Norwegian far right.
Episode 4 - Episode 4

Ignoring Secret Service warnings to the contrary, Perez and Tosh track down Mathias Søderland. Back on Shetland a beach memorial service is held for Sally McColl.

Perez must re-assess the investigation in the aftermath of Jo’s attack. The MIT arrives on Shetland and sets its sights on Malone. Meanwhile Tosh begins to have doubts about Lars.
