Episode 1 - Frog WhisperersWhen St. Louis' SciGirls find the amphibian population in decline, they hop to it! Alanna and her friends hit urban and rural sites to compare frog and toad calls and report on their amphibian neighbors. |
Episode 1 - Turtle ManiaIzzie is dismayed when no one comes to her new after school club. From the SciGirls she learns the value of observation in evaluating any type of "habitat." When she adds decorations, games and snacks to her club room, her club becomes an instant hit! |
Episode 2 - Gallinas de Ciudad / City ChickensSciGirls hatch a plan! Alexa and her friends design and build a chicken coop for an urban farm in Denver, Colorado, by recycling a donated structure into a new home where the birds can thrive. |
Episode 2 - Puppet PowerIzzie is running for class president and Jake tells her it doesn't matter what her speech is like, the tallest candidate always wins. Desperate to get a leg up on the competition, Izzie learns how to make a puppet from the SciGirls. She has everyone's attention during her speech until she loses her balance and falls over. The lesson: Always make a prototype first! |
Episode 2 - Flower PowerSciGirls spring into action! Minnesota sixth-grader Jordan gathers her girls to track changes in flowers and plants as spring emerges and celebrates by creating a sculpture and a time-lapse video of the season's arrival. |
Episode 2 - Mother Nature's ShoesJake hopes to win the school's hide and seek contest, and Izzie vows to help him find a way to blend in with his surroundings. Seeing how the SciGirls found inspiration from polar bears for their shoe cover designs, Izzie and Jake apply the tricks of lizard camouflage to Jake's hide and seek costume. |
Episode 3 - Habitat HavocJake fears that his pet mouse, Fang, is depressed in his spacious new ultra-luxury mouse cage. Guided by the SciGirls' habitat research, Izzie and Jake determine that Fang prefers a cozy place to curl up- inside Jake's fuzzy bunny slippers. |
Episode 3 - Dolphin DiveJake has laryngitis and despite Izzie's best efforts, she can't understand anything he's trying to communicate with all of his gestures and facial expressions. She learns how to observe and catalogue his behaviors from the SciGirls but concludes that dolphins are easier to understand than Jake. |
Episode 3 - SkyGirlsSciGirls Emma, Lauren and Madison have the ultimate “stratus update!” Teaming up with NASA scientists, they identify clouds from the ground and compare their data with satellite images, ultimately creating a “mostly cloudy” museum display. |
Episode 3 - Escuadron Espacial / Space SquadTexas SciGirls Katya, Mariana, Angela and Eloyda are over the moon! Teaming up with NASA materials engineers, they create their own water bottle insulators, bringing space science to life on Earth. |
Episode 4 - Atletas Maravillosos / Awesome AthletesSciGirls in San Diego go for the gold! Clarissa and her sporty pals get inspired by Olympic athletes. They team up with a sports medicine physician and create a fitness boot camp to promote community health. |
Episode 4 - Butterfly DiariesMimi and her friends explore a Minnesota milkweed patch, counting monarchs to help scientists track the butterfly population. The SciGirls then raise monarch caterpillars and use a video diary to capture their metamorphosis to butterflies. |
Episode 4 - The Awesome App RaceJake's always misplacing his stuff, and Izzie wants to help her chronically disorganized pal. The SciGirls have an app for that! Izzie builds a GPS-style app for Jake that helps track and locate his essential possessions. |
Episode 4 - Digging ArchaeologyJake is getting ready for a science test but he's lost his lucky socks! Izzie learns excavation techniques from the SciGirls and carefully catalogs everything that's jammed into Jake's school locker. She unearths the socks, but admits she might have found them even more easily by smell! |
Episode 5 - Horsing AroundIzzie needs to pick a date for the annual Sadie Hawkins dance. To determine the best dancer, she adapts the water test the SciGirls use to measure how bumpy a horse is. Science rules out the worst dancers, leaving Jake as her date. |
Episode 5 - Feathered FriendsRegina and her friends hit the streets of Denver to investigate what makes a good urban bird habitat and transform a city school garden into a welcoming home for feathered friends. |
Episode 5 - Multitasking ManiaIzzie's attempts to video chat, text, paint her toenails, and do a crossword puzzle all at the same time lead to chaos. She defends her abilities, but Jake helps her turn to the SciGirls for a multitasking intervention. |
Episode 5 - Mejorando Procesos / Process PowerValeria and her friends take action in their Arizona community. These SciGirls partner with an industrial engineer to design a streamlined service plan for a food bank, and help high school students in need. |
Episode 6 - Blowin' in the WindIzzie is Skyping with Jake and working on a report about the depletion of Earth's resources when her laptop battery dies. Rather than plug it in and use more electricity, she calls on the SciGirls for help. Learning about alternative power sources, she figures out how power her laptop with a generator attached to an exercise bike – pedaled by Jake of course! |
Episode 6 - Insulation StationJake attempts winter stargazing, but his shivering jiggles the telescope. Izzie looks to the SciGirls help Jake stay warmer outside. An experiment with a coat full of cheesy poofs goes awry when Jakes eats the insulation, but when Izzie turns to bubble-wrap, mission accomplished! |
Episode 6 - Asombrosos Arboles / Terrific TreesThe majestic big trees of Puerto Rico catch the attention of SciGirls in San Juan. Isabel, Gabriela and Karla explore the benefits that big trees bring to their ecosystems, comparing trees in the rain forest and the city. |
Episode 6 - Terrific PacificJunior lifeguard Chloe and her friends set sail on a SoCal citizen science cruise, working with marine scientists to collect data on the health of the Pacific Ocean and create a splashy conservation video for beach visitors. |
Episode 7 - Workin' It OutDismayed that she can't keep up on a jog with Jake and his pet mouse, Izzie admits she needs some motivation from the SciGirls to get back in shape. Jake acts as personal trainer to help Izzie find the most fun exercise for her - dancing! |
Episode 7 - High-Tech FashionIzzie has decided to run in a triathlon for an environmental cause, but learns she cannot wear all the outfits she'll need at the same time! Inspired by the SciGirls, she designs a special outfit that has everything she needs built in, at the touch of a button: water wings, speakers for motivation and LEDs to display a flashing message "Save the Mallards!" |
Episode 8 - Science Cooks!Izzie begs her friend Jake to eat something other than snack foods, but he claims anything that's good for him tastes terrible. Learning from the SciGirls how to come up with snacks that are both tasty and healthy, she tests them on Jake. He can't believe his tastebuds, but he still insists on one more crunchy snack – just for dessert. |
Episode 8 - Bee HavenJake thinks he wants a pet bear, and Izzie tries talk him into beekeeping instead. The SciGirls and Izzie inspire Jake to overcome his fear of bees and set up his own backyard hive. |
Episode 9 - Pedal PowerJake wants to find a way to ride his bike and play guitar at the same time. Using the SciGirls' engineering savvy, Izzie helps Jake design a musical pull cart for his bike that lets him win his school bike race. |
Episode 9 - Underwater Eco-AdventureAt Izzie's school, the class superlatives are published and Izzie is called “The Most Unique Dresser.” She's not sure if that's good or bad! She learns from the SciGirls what "indicator species" are and searches her closet for "indicator clothing" that matches what she sees in fashion magazines. She discovers she owns all the indicator outfits but can't resist combining them in her own way. |
Episode 10 - Robots to the Rescue!Jake's pet mouse “Fang” is hiding under Jake's bed and won't come out. Jake' is trying to rescue Fang with a remote-controlled car but whenever the car gets close, Fang runs away. Izzie learns from the SciGirls how to make the car more mouse-friendly and rescue Fang! |
Episode 10 - Super SleuthsIzzie and Jake sit down to watch the SciGirls mystery of the stolen mask, as Izzie learns of Jake's own deathly fear of masks! Using zombie hands and spooky voices, Izzie gives Jake a good scare. |
Episode 11 - Going GreenIzzie finds Jake emptying cases and cases of snacks, hoping to find a movie premiere ticket in one of the snack containers. They decide to recycle the containers, only to discover that the containers are not recyclable. The SciGirls show Izzie how to re-use the containers and get Jake into the movie after all! |
Episode 12 - Star PowerJake shows Izzie the flashy, lighted skateboard he's going to use in the school talent show. But when he rehearses with the stage lights, the skateboard lights are invisible! |
