Began acting during high school. Made his big-screen debut with a small role in 2000 drama Where the Heart Is. First series-regular role was musician Zack Van Gerbig on the WB drama Gilmore Girls.
Originally auditioned for the role of Hoyt Fortenberry before being cast as Terry Bellefleur on HBO's True Blood. Is the singer and guitarist for country-rock band Pilbilly Knights.
