Season 1 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Log #1

Martin Milner as Senior Officer Pete Malloy, and Kent McCord as his rookie partner, Officer Jim Reed, star in the series about two uniformed members of the Los Angeles Police Department. They are assigned to patrol car designated as ADAM 12. In "Log-One" Malloy, veteran of several years, plans to resign because he is torn up emotionally at the loss of his former partner killed by a robber's bullet. But on this day, Malloy is partnered with the very eager (but green) Reed, and events cause Malloy to reconsider his future.

  

Episode 2 - Log #141

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) attempt to save two small boys who are victims of their mother's narcotic pills, and then pick up the trail of a burglar suspected of stealing color television sets in "Log 141," this week's episode of ADAM 12. After dispatching the youngsters to a hospital and arresting their mother (Natalie Masters), Malloy and Reed spot a long-sought burglary suspect. A chase on foot through an apartment compound finally traps the man (Ray Ballard) in a most unlikely predicament.

  

Episode 3 - Log #11

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) are involved in a high-speed chase, a murder case, and a family dispute in Log-11 this week's episode of ADAM 12. The officers are tipped off to a murder, and Reed becomes upset when they must turn the case over to detectives after they find the dead body. But his search for excitement is realized later when they spot a "hot car" (stolen vehicle) containing two suspicious appearing men. Included in the cast are Robert Donner as Teejay, the informant, Bob Hastings as Beuhler and Eunice Christopher as Reba, the quarreling couple, and Jack Hogan as Detective Miller and Tony Gardner as Detective Hudson.

  

Episode 4 - Log #72

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) deal with a busload of Mexican children who arrive unannounced at the home of a citizen catch a robber and face a sniper holed up in a small house, in "Log-72," this week's episode of ADAM 12. Pepe Garcia (Speedy Zapata) and 51 children call on their friend, booster club president Ted Wilson (Del Moore), to honor him as "El Presidente." Even with the help of Malloy and Reed he can't convince them he's only the head of a club, not the country. The officers use tear gas in routing the sniper who has fired on small children. The cast includes Eve McVeigh and Amzie Strickland as Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Zephyr, two women vieing for the same man, and Stafford Repp as Mr. Walker.

  

Episode 5 - Log #131

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) help a woman whose baby is threatened by a deranged man, and they further protect a harassed woman from a spiteful neighbor in "Log-131," this week's episode of ADAM 12. The two officers must talk and act quickly as the deranged man (Zalman King) holds the baby in one arm and a gun in his free hand while the mother (Barbara Baldavin) stands by helplessly. They later help Mrs.Getz (Joan Shawlee) who is being harassed because she testifies against her neighbor's nephew in an assault case. Also in the cast are Arthur Gilmore as Lieutenant Moore, Bill Boyett as Sgt. McDonald and Vincent Beck as Clavor, the neighbor of Mrs. Getz.

  

Episode 6 - Log #91

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) respond to a shooting in which a young officer is critically wounded and then must finish the night on routine calls, in "Log-91," this week's episode of ADAM 12. Officer Reed has a difficult time taking his mind off his academy colleague, Officer Stenzler (Richard Van Vleet), victim of a gunman, but carries on with Officer Malloy as they arrest a drunk driver, investigate a bar fight and catch a pair of car strippers. Others in the cast include William Stevens as Officer Walters, Bill Boyett as the sergeant, and Quentin Sondergaard as Lt. Moore

  

Episode 7 - Log #161

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) go from a liquor store robbery to a car crash, and wind up their watch settling a family dispute in "Log 161," this week's episode of ADAM 12. When they arrive at the scene of the crash, the officers find a young woman (Eve Brent) pinned under her car about 70 feet down a brush entangled hillside. Evidence indicates she had a small child with her, and their next step is to initiate a search. The cast includes Don Hammer (cg), liquor store victim, George Fisher as a robbery suspect, and Paul Carr and Anne Whitfield as Whitley and Vera, a quarreling couple.

  

Episode 8 - Log #71

A routine "loud noise" call turns into tragedy, a liquor store holdup is not what it seems, and two leaders of separate "love" cults fight, in "Log-71," this week's episode of ADAM 12. Martin Milner and Kent McCord star in the series as Officers Malloy and Reed respectively. When the officers reach the source of the loud noise they discover a teenage babysitter who is unable to swim trying desperately to save her small charge floating face down in a pool. The cast included Nira Barab as Karen, the babysitter, Steve Mitchell, liquor store owner, Charles Kierkob as the Mind, and Dennis G. Turner as Love.

  

Episode 9 - Log #101

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) mark one for the books when they investigate an almost unbelievable report of a stolen lawn. When the officers arrive at the Jenkins home, Mr. Jenkins (Harry Hickox) appears to have gone berserk. But he merely is pounding a shovel in despair at the bare ground left by the burglars who had neatly rolled up his dichondra lawn and hauled it away in a pickup truck. The pair finish off the shift catching a couple of young hoodlums who are loaded with credit cards. The cast includes Rory Stevens as Percy Waterman, the boy witness to the lawn theft, Steve Cory as James Talbot, and Floyd Mutrux as Douglas Milne, credit cards suspects.

  

Episode 10 - Log #132

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) answer a silent burglar alarm at a swimwear factory and play a cat-and-mouse game with a pair of suspects, in "Log-132," this week's episode of ADAM 12. In other action, the officers respond to a prowler complaint reported by an attractive young woman, and later help a youngster get unstuck from an iron picket fence. In between assignments, Officer Reed plots to give away a litter of pups born to the Reed family dog. The cast includes Lee J.Lambert as Brian, a burglary suspect; Dianna Curtis, his accomplice; Karen Black as Susan Decker, prowler victim, and Richard Steele as Tommy, the youngster caught in the fence.

  

Episode 11 - Log #61

A routine "see the woman" call leads Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) to a hippie hangout where a 16 year-old runaway girl is seriously ill from the effects of narcotics, in "Log-61," this week's episode of ADAM 12. After talking to Mrs. Ross (Dorothy Neumann) about the "strange" people living next door, the officers find Carol (Cynthia Hull ) hiding in the back yard. In other action, the officers participate in a stakeout at a parking lot where a dope peddler is to meet his customer. The cast includes Philip Capin as Ray, hippie friend of Carol's, William Stevens as Officer Walters, Claude Johnson as Officer Brinkman, and Jimmy Mathers as Michael-James Wixted as the two little boys, who report a prowler.

  

Episode 12 - Log #111

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) carry two unconscious men to safety after spotting a burning house while on patrol, in "Log-111" this week's episode of ADAM 12. In other action, the officers search for a stolen car which has a pet boa constrictor in the trunk, unbeknown to the car thieves, break up a neighborhood feud, and catch a narcotics suspect with marijuana. The cast includes Luana Anders as Jane Tipton, owner of the missing car and snake, William Stevens as Officer Walters, Kenneth Washington as Officer Russo, Dan Ferrone as Horace Fenster and Eldon Quick as Cliff Rankin, feuding neighbors.

  

Episode 13 - Log #122

A stolen car containing Christmas toys for a needy family is the object of a widespread search in "Log-122," this week's episode of ADAM 12. short after Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) leave a bag of toys with Mrs. Ward (Mittie Lawrence) at a parking lot so that her children will have a Christmas surprise, she reports her car stolen. In other action, the officers return to the Beuhler home (Bob Hastings and Eunice Christopher), to resolve another family argument.

  

Episode 14 - Log #81

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) answer a silent burglar alarm and wind up in a shoot-out with three suspects, in "Log-81," this week's episode of ADAM 12. The call, triggered without the suspects' knowledge when they enter a large warehouse, brings not only car ADAM 12 but other units. With the building surrounded Malloy and Reed fight it out inside as they surprise the burglary trio. In other operations, Malloy and Reed catch a raccoon that had been reported as a prowler, help a lost senior citizen, and respond to a service station robbery. The cast includes Richard Hale as Saulsberry, the elderly man, Mittie Lawrence as Mrs. Devefs, senior citizen administrator, Patricia Lee as the babysitter, and William Stevens as Officer Walters.

  

Episode 15 - Log #32

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) break up a narcotics party and uncover a supply of heroin, in "Jimmy Eisely's Dealing Smack!", this week's episode of ADAM 12. Following a tip from their reliable "man on the street,' TeeJay (Robert dinner), the officers, supported by several other units, lead a raid on Jimmy Eisely's (William Mims) apartment. The raid not only removes a large amount of drug from the market, but nets several dope addicts and one of the city's big dope pushers. The cast includes Jenny Sullivan, daughter of Barry Sullivan, as Ellen Harris, a young mother lost in the city, Stacy Harris as Jim, narcotics suspect, and John Lupton as Ted, brother of a young girl suicide.

  

Episode 16 - Log #62

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) round up a horse thief in the heart of Los Angeles, and then are engaged in a high-speed chase of two armed robbers, in "Grand Theft, Horses?" -- Log 62 --," this week's episode of ADAM 12. LeRoy (Tim Mattieson) a transplanted Texan high on drugs, "borrows" a horse from a Griffith Park riding stable and it takes help from park rangers to head him off before he can reach the freeways. In other action the officers settle a dispute between a traveling salesman and a runaway girl.

  

Episode 17 - Log #33

Rookie Officer Jim Reed (Kent McCord) is grilled relentlessly by a fellow officer after he shoots and kills a 16-year-old sniper, in "It All Happens So Fast…" -- Log 33 --, this week's episode of ADAM 12. Following Los Angeles Police Department procedure, Reed and Malloy (Martin Milner), face a special police inquiry board. Sgt. Jerry Miller (Jack Hogan) asks questions, many of then pointed and upsetting, as he demands all the details from the young officer.

  

Episode 18 - Log #112

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) forget to "go by the book" when citing a traffic violator and later must tangle with the same man after learning he is a wanted criminal, in "You Blew It --Log 112," this week's episode of ADAM 12. The officers, in their haste to answer a second call, do not wait for a report back from headquarters on whether citizen James Walker (William Dooley) is wanted after Walker's nearly striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk. A short time later, they learn Walker is an armed robbery suspect and track him to his girlfriend's apartment. The cast includes Bara Byrnes as Annie, Walker's girlfriend, and Joe Mell as Cal, the bartender.

  

Episode 19 - Log #51

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) rush to a tall building where a man is threatening to leap from the roof, in "A Jumper -- Code 2, Log-51," this week's episode of ADAM 12. Henry Beckman portrays Levering, the distraught "leaper." Officer Malloy applies psychology and other techniques learned through years of police work in his efforts to dissuade Levering. The cast includes Catherine Squire as Mrs. Hess, the woman who complained of her television set being tampered with by a neighbor, and Hal Smith as Edward Brohanon, the drunk driver suspect.

  

Episode 20 - Log #73

Office Malloy (Martin Milner) a part-time university student, finds himself in the middle of a campus riot, in "I'm Still a Cop, Carlton - Log 73," this weeks's episode of Adam 12. Malloy discovers his acceptance at the university by other students diminishes when they learn that he is a police officer. His troubles mount when he and his partner, Officer Reed (Kent McCord), are part of the police contingent called to help rescue the captive college president. Malloy proves his courage when he searches for a hidden bomb. Jerry Quarry, heavyweight boxing contender, has a featured role as a student. The cast also includes Anne Helm as Peg Tompkins, a teacher and friend of Malloy's, Paul Carter as Professor Pinter, Stacy Harris as college president Lane, Geoffrey Deuel as Paul Banner, bomb planter, and John C. Johnson as student Carlton.

  

Episode 21 - Log #102

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) fight against time to thwart a 17-year-old boy's threat to commit suicide, in "We Can't Just Walk Away From it", this week's episode of ADAM 12. Larry Harris (Roger Garrett), accused of selling narcotics, locks himself in his room. When Malloy and Reed arrive, Larry fires a shot through the door to let them know he means business, then declares he's going to put the gun to his head within eight minutes. The cast includes Maria Grimm as Larry's girlfriend, Scott Brady as John Harris, his father; and Mary Gregory as his mother.

  

Episode 22 - Log #152

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) risk their lives to face an armed suspect because a foolhardy colleague failed to think before acting in "A Dead Cop Can't Help Anyone -- Log 152," this week's episode of ADAM 12. Ed Wells (Gary Crosby), a braggart and overly aggressive officer, embarrasses Malloy and Reed when he overpowers an armed suspect they are about to subdue peacefully. But on the next call, Well's tactics brings gunfire from the suspect and Wells is critically wounded. Malloy and Reed then try to rescue Wells against the gunman's fire. The cast includes Bobby Hall as Chester, an armed suspect, Barry Williams as Johnny Grant, Jan Reeves as Wilma, Johnny's mother and Chester's girlfriend. Barbara Baldavin portrays Wells' wife.

  

Episode 23 - Log #12

Officers Malloy (Martin Milner) and Reed (Kent McCord) answer a "child left alone" call and uncover a case involving child neglect, in "He -- He Was Trying to Kill Me, -- Log 12" this week's episode of ADAM 12. Charlie Phelps (Dawn Lyn--cg), 6 year-old girl with a boy's name, welcome the officers to her apartment where the mother has not been home in three days, and even lets them take a peek at her charge kept in the bathroom. Charlie's mother (Bambi Allen) and father (Jim Driskill) are apprehended later at the apartment embroiled in a bitter battle over the use of an electric cord in disciplining Charlie. The cast includes Hampton Fancher as Bartell, friend of Mrs. Phelps, Conny Van Dyke as Abbie Jenks, Charlie's neighbor, Sydney Soule as Policewoman Owens, Chuck Bowman as Officer Rogers and Ron Pinkard as a police photographer.

  

Episode 24 - Log #172

A young and beautiful oil heiress pursues Officer Malloy (Martin Milner) for a date after he issues her a traffic citation and her persistence causes problems in "Boy!...The Things You do for the Job! -- Log 172." this week's episode of ADAM 12. Penelope Lang (Anna Capri) showers Malloy with calls, gifts and pleas trying to break down his resistance. Malloy, after considerable ribbing from his partner, Reed Kent McCord), and fellow officers, resolves the problem in a manner he refuses to reveal. The cast includes Gary Crosby as Officer Wells, Claude Johnson as Officer Brinkman, William Boyett as Sgt. McDonald and William Stevens as Officer Walters.

  

Episode 25 - Log #92

Neighbors arguing bitterly over possession of a jointly-owned boat brings Officers Malloy (Martin Milner and Reed (Kent McCord) to their homes on three occasions, in "Tell Him He Pushed Back A Little Too Hard -- Log 92," this week's episode of ADAM 12. Miles Wellman ( James Callahan) is highly incensed when he finds neighbor Sidney Roemer (Dick Sargent) has padlocked the boat in Roemer's garage. Efforts by their wives, Agnes Wellman (Joan Staley) and Wendy Roemer (Christopher West), to pacify the pair are futile. The cast also includes Jack Hogan as Sgt. Jerry Miller.

  

Episode 26 - Log #22

In between work calls for a fur burglary, family fights and a loud party, Officer Reed (Kent McCord) looks for an audience to hear his "shaggy dog" story, in "…So This Little Guy Goes into this Bar, And… --Log 22" a humorous telecast this week on ADAM 12. The story, told to Reed by Officer Wells ( Gary Crosby) in the locker room, fails to get the same hilarious response when Red tells it to his partner, Officer Malloy (Martin Milner) and others. The cast included Nydia Westman as Alice Hoyt, fur burglary victim, Joyana (cq) as housewife Muriel Fletcher and Dean Stanton as Henry, her husband; David West berg as Howie Hewlitt and Penny Gaston as his wife Jan, hosts to the loud party, and Donna Mantoan as Lorna, the waitress.
