With Los Angeles under a mandatory shelter-in-place order and trials piling up, Judge Benner authorizes Lola to preside over a virtual trial that involves a dispute between brothers and a stolen car. Emily represents the defendant, a graffiti artist, and Mark prosecutes for the D.A.'s office, marking the first time he tries a case in Lola's “court.” Also, Mark and Quinn continue to explore their romantic relationship while quarantined in separate homes; Judge Benner oversees court from afar and struggles to learn how to cook; and Sara has to balance her day job with a new side hustle as a food delivery driver. Luke and Emily's relationship is taxed by separation, and germaphobe and type-A Sherri contends with the new world (dis)order.

Lola and Mark try to rebuild their friendship after Mark witnessed Lola being detained during a protest while defending a teen girl, amid an escalating encounter with police, on part one of a two-part second season premiere of All Rise. Through a series of flashbacks, details emerge surrounding the night of the protest as well as the long-lasting effects they have on Lola, Mark, Emily, Luke and everyone else involved. Also, to help with the court backlog due to closures caused by COVID-19, Lola hires Ness Johnson (Samantha Marie Ware), a bright, outspoken legal clerk who immediately clashes with Sherri.

Lola may be asked to recuse herself from a case after the video of her detainment is leaked. Also, Mark’s in the midst of an intense negotiation with DA Louis Bravo (Ian Anthony Dale) regarding how and when to arrest and charge Deputy Sheriff Rashel (Nick Wechsler) for attempted murder, when Mark is the victim of a brazen knife attack.

To make matters worse, Judge Laski (Paul McCrane) is presiding over cases in 802 while Lola is on maternity leave.
