Episode 1 - Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot

Episode 1 - Pilot

Dexter Morgan, Miami Metro Police Department blood spatter analyst, has a double life. When he’s not helping the Homicide division solve murders, he spends his time hunting and killing bad guys that slip through the justice system. His sister, Debra, a vice squad officer, pulls Dexter into her world when a series of hookers are being murdered around Miami and she sees a chance to get on the good side of her boss, Lt. LaGuerta. Meanwhile, Dexter’s girlfriend, Rita Bennet, a single mother of two whose abusive ex-husband is in jail, wants to take their relationship to the next level.

Episode 2 - Crocodile

Dexter is stalking his next victim, a drunk driver about to be aquitted for the murder of a teenage boy. But when a fellow cop is found murdered, Dexter has to put that on hold to help Homicide Detectives Batista and Doakes investigate a crime boss for the murder. It gets even more personal when the crime boss also orders a hit on the wife of the murdered cop. Meanwhile, the Miami Hooker serial killer strikes again and leaves a macabre piece of evidence that Debra finds, gaining her the transfer she wanted out of Vice and into Homicide.

Despite Debra and Dexter’s protestations, Lt. LaGuerta starts a manhunt for Tony Tucci, the night watchman videotaped at the ice rink where body parts were found. But while the manhunt for Tucci begins, a skeptical Debra keeps looking for the “real” Ice Truck Killer. Meanwhile, Doakes decides to go after the crime boss at his church, confronting him and his daughter about his part in the murder of a cop and his wife. Rita, Dexter’s girlfriend, has her own troubles when someone from her incarcerated husband’s past comes to visit, demanding repayment of drugs lost by her husband.

Meanwhile, LaGuerta’s hunt for Tony Tucci has to go in a different direction when new information comes to light about Tucci and his connection to the Ice Truck Killer. Doakes, the lead investigator of the Ice Truck Killer case, becomes afraid for his life when a crime boss puts his thugs on the trail of Doakes, ‘innocently’ following him wherever he goes.

Episode 5 - Love American Style

Debra’s discovery of an Ice Truck Killer victim being found alive gives LaGuerta and her Homicide detectives their first chance to identify the notorious serial killer. Debra and Doakes, assigned to the case, sit with the mutilated victim, in the hopes that he will be able to identify the killer. While Dexter works on the case, Rita tells Dexter about a friend of hers whose fiance has disappeared while immigrating from Cuba by way of a coyote (a human trafficker). When the fiance turns up dead, Dexter decides to hunt down the murderous coyote. But things don’t go as planned when Dexter realizes that there is more to the vicious trafficker than his careful stalking prepared him for…

Episode 6 - Return to Sender

Dexter arrives at a crime scene to find one of his victims he has disposed of has mysteriously returned to the scene of the kill. Dexter figures that it’s the Ice Truck Killer, letting him know that he knows what Dexter is up to. The noose is tightened further, when LaGuerta finds a young Cuban boy hiding at the crime scene – there’s no way he missed seeing Dexter capture the victim. Dexter has to figure out a plan to stay out of the crosshairs of his own Homicide Division while investigating his own crime. Meanwhile, Rita has to deal with her abusive ex-husband, Paul, when he’s released from jail and wants to come to their daughter’s birthday party.

The Ice Truck Killer leaves Dexter a surprise at the scene of one of Dexter’s recent kills, putting Dexter firmly in the crosshairs of his own Homicide division.

Debra and Batista find proof that Neil Perry is the Ice Truck Killer when they find a body beneath Neil’s trailer home. A manhunt ensues to find and capture Neil before he kills again. As more and more evidence rises to the surface, Dexter is left adrift. Neil Perry, the supposed Ice Truck Killer, doesn’t live up to his expectations. Meanwhile, Dexter has to deal with his past when a teenager he caught and released murders again. As a result, Dexter sets out to correct this mistake in one of the only ways he knows how. Rita’s family life is torn asunder as her paroled ex-husband, Paul, reasserts himself as the father of her children. Paul even confronts Dexter, letting him know that he doesn’t like Dexter being around his wife and kids. Rita wishes that Paul would go away forever, something that is definitely possible when your boyfriend happens to be Dexter.

Episode 8 - Shrink Wrap

While looking into a series of suicides of high profile, powerful women, Dexter realizes a pattern: they all saw the same shrink. Dexter goes into stalk mode and becomes a patient of the shrink to ascertain whether or not he is the killer that he seems to be. Unexpectedly, the shrink helps Dexter unlock dark secrets from his past. Debra's latest relationship with Rudy also quickly heats up. Dexter's relationship with Rita, however, seems to be in danger as Paul works his way deeper into Rita's life and much to Rita’s consternation, the kids love him and he's actually civil to her. Meanwhile, Dexter's certainty that Neil Perry is not the Ice Truck Killer helps LaGuerta to decide to not just accept Neil's confession, despite mounting evidence to the contrary.

When the suicide of a powerful, high profile woman reveals a strange pattern of murders, Dexter stalks a killer unlike any he’s had to deal with before.

Episode 9 - Father Knows Best

Dexter receives a registered letter that informs him that his biological father has recently died. This comes as a shock, because Harry, Dexter’s adoptive father, had told Dexter that his real father had died over 30 years ago. As Dexter takes off to reconnect to his shadowy past, Rita decides to come along to help him make it through the weekend. Then Debra and Rudy join them for the weekend at the dead bio-dad’s house and things become even more awkward. Back in Miami, Doakes is involved in the questionable shooting of a middle-aged Haitian man. Internal Affairs investigates and Batista has to decide if he’s going to tell the truth about the shooting, or back Doakes’ untrue version of the actual incident.

Rita, Debra and Rudy join Dexter for a weekend away when Dexter finds out that his biological father, whom Dexter thought had died 30 years ago, has just recently passed away and left him his all his belongings.

When a local convict claims he has new information regarding a fifteen-year-old crime spree, Miami Metro sets out to unearth new evidence on the case. While Debra attempts to cure Dexter of his killer tendencies, the Mike Anderson case leads to the Ukrainian mob, and a vengeful Louis won’t stop meddling with Dexter’s life.

Episode 75 - Season 7, Episode 3: Buck the System

Dexter tries to bring Debra on-board with his new target, while the Ukrainian mob seeks revenge for the killing of one of their own. Quinn grows close to a dancer at the mob’s strip club, and LaGuerta attempts to enlist Batista to help her with re-opening the case of the Bay Harbor Butcher, who she believes is still out there.

After capturing a deadly killer, things go awry for Miami Metro, sending Debra into a tailspin. In an effort to help his sister, Dexter enters into a dangerous game of cat and mouse, while the Ukrainian mob continues to seek revenge.

Episode 78 - Season 7, Episode 6: Do the Wrong Thing

Dexter becomes more intrigued by Hannah, while Debra gets to know local crime writer Sal Price, who has dug up some possibly incriminating dirt on Hannah. Things heat up as Dexter and Hannah grow closer, and when Sal Price discovers the two are involved, he wants the exclusive story. Sal helps Debra uncover new evidence about Hannah, while Quinn makes questionable choices to protect his girlfriend, Nadia.

Episode 80 - Season 7, Episode 8: Argentina

Dexter tries to keep Debra in the dark about his relationship with Hannah, but a surprise visit from Astor, Cody and Harrison throws a wrench into Dexter’s plans. Now out of jail, Isaak renews his pursuit of Dexter, while Quinn continues his power struggle with the Koshkas.

Episode 81 - Season 7, Episode 9: Helter Skelter

Dexter is preoccupied with Isaak still on the loose, but an internal struggle within the Koshka Brotherhood could work to Dexter’s advantage. And while Miami Metro is on the hunt for a Phantom Arsonist, Dexter goes to great lengths to protect his relationship with Hannah, asking a favor of Debra that causes her to question her loyalty to Dexter.

Episode 82 - Season 7, Episode 10: The Dark…Whatever

A surprise visit from Hannah’s father puts Dexter on alert, and the Phantom Arsonist’s crimes become more gruesome. Defending Nadia’s honor forces Quinn into a dangerous situation, and LaGuerta brings on former Deputy Chief Matthews to help her with the Bay Harbor Butcher case.

Episode 83 - Season 7, Episode 11: Do You See What I See?

As Christmas approaches, Dexter tries to balance his life with Hannah and his relationship with Debra, but unbeknownst to Dexter, Debra follows up on what could be an incriminating tip that Hannah’s father gave her. However, when Dexter learns that the man responsible for ordering his mother’s death has been released from prison, he zeros in for a kill that might end all kills.

Episode 85 - Season 8, Episode 1: A Beautiful Day

It’s been 6 months since LaGuerta’s murder and Dexter is still managing life as a dad, brother, and serial killer. Debra now works as a P.I. for a private firm and Batista has replaced her as Lieutenant. Meanwhile, Miami Metro investigates the murder of a man who has had pieces of his brain removed.

Episode 86 - Season 8, Episode 2: Every Silver Lining…

Miami Metro continues their hunt for the Brain Surgeon while Dr. Vogel enlists Dexter to do her bidding based on her own personal experience with her previous patients. Debra continues to track down her P.I. case and has to take matters into her own hands.

Episode 87 - Season 8, Episode 3: What’s Eating Dexter Morgan?

Dexter continues his manhunt for the Brain Surgeon. Dr. Vogel tries to prove to Dexter that he’s perfect as a psychopath. Debra’s PTSD kicks in and she makes a desperate plea to confess to LaGuerta’s murder.

Episode 88 - Season 8, Episode 4: Scar Tissue

Dexter tracks down another potential serial killer from Dr. Vogel’s list. Quinn celebrates his passing of the Sergeant’s exam by defending Debra’s honor in a fight. Dr. Vogel begins treating Debra for her PTSD.

Episode 89 - Season 8, Episode 5: This Little Piggy

Dr. Vogel gets abducted by the Brain Surgeon while Dexter and Debra try and rescue her. Masuka finds out he has a daughter.

Episode 90 - Season 8, Episode 6: A Little Reflection

Dexter monitors a young psychopath to see if he is suited for his table. Dexter and Debra finally get back to normal but are surprised by his ex, Hannah.

Episode 91 - Season 8, Episode 7: Dress Code

Dexter hunts down Hannah to figure out why she’s back in Miami. Dexter also takes on a protégé and starts teaching him the Code.

Episode 92 - Season 8, Episode 8: Are We There Yet?

Dexter tracks down his protégé in the belief that he murdered his neighbor. Meanwhile, Dexter tries to help Hannah escape the country.

Episode 93 - Season 8, Episode 9: Make Your Own Kind of Music

Dexter investigates the murder of his protégé. Dr. Vogel gets the surprise of a lifetime when someone returns from her past.

Episode 94 - Season 8, Episode 10: Goodbye Miami

With help from Dr. Vogel, Dexter tries to lure the Brain Surgeon to a location in order to get him on his table. In the end, an important person in Dexter’s life is murdered before his eyes.

Episode 95 - Season 8, Episode 11: Monkey in a Box

Dexter is torn between fleeing the country with Hannah and Harrison and taking Saxon out once and for all. A dramatic sequence of events follows that shows Dexter’s growth as a human being, but at the same time his lack of action causes a grizzly end to the episode.

Episode 96 - Season 8, Episode 12: Remember the Monsters?

In the final episode of the groundbreaking series, Dexter is faced with impossible odds. A brewing hurricane is about to touch down on Miami and Dexter has to end things his way.
