Season 1 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Pilot

Stephanie trades in cosmos for carpools when she marries an older man with three kids. Episode 1 - Friendly Fire

To impress a client, Stephanie asks Aaron to befriend her son, unaware that the kid terrifies Aaron . When Gabby, not Charlie, saves Maggie's life after she starts choking, Charlie is desperate to get back in her good graces.

  

Episode 2 - The Lying Game

Stephanie tells James that lying is OK if it makes someone's day better, which leads him to tell a huge lie. When everyone is called to the principal's office, the family must find a balance between honesty and shading the truth.

When Gabby and Noah start having issues, Gabby uses a childhood friend to make Noah jealous. Stephanie goes out of her way to correct Aaron when he accidentally calls her "Mom".

  

Episode 3 - Harp & Soul

Stephanie's determined to bond with the kids and uses her love of music to do it. But by forcing them to take up an instrument against their will, Stephanie learns a very public and embarrassing lesson in parenting.

James leads a student rebellion with Stephanie's help when the principal starts cracking down on dress code. Gabby teaches Charlie how to use social media

  

Episode 4 - Forty-Two Inches of Pure Evil

Aaron's being given a hard time at school, and when Stephanie tries to intervene, she makes matters worse. Gabby's trying out for cheerleading and Maggie volunteers to coach her, but comes off more like a drill sergeant.

Loving the pedestal Aaron has put her on, Stephanie must turn to Gabby for help with his math homework to stay on top of it.

A secret about Stephanie gets exposed the night before Gabby takes the SATs. James and Aaron have trouble sharing theirroom.

Gabby gets asked out by a boy, and she wants to go, but Charlie doesn't want her to date until she's 16. Maggie backs him up, but Gabby sneakily gleans advice from Stephanie on how to get around the rule.

James tries to scam Stephanie and Charlie into thinking one of his friends is a foreign exchange student, but things don't go exactly as planned.

  

Episode 6 - Rock Mom

Stephanie doesn't get carded at a club and is feeling old. When she escorts Gabby to a lead singer audition for a rock band and instead lands the gig, she sees it as the pick me up she needs, but Gabby doesn't share the feeling.

  

Episode 7 - Yoot There It Is

James and Gabby go into business together selling Grandma Maggie's fruit snacks, until she finds out what they have beendoing and demands her cut.

  

Episode 7 - Dances With She-Wolves

Stephanie attempts to get more involved by participating on the parents dance committee at James' school only to find the other mothers mean and unwelcoming to the too pretty, too excited, binder–ready Stephanie.

  

Episode 8 - Walk Like A Boy

Aaron feels he is old enough to walk home on his own, but when he is brought home by the police, family services mustdetermine if Stephanie and Charlie are doing a good enough job as parents.

  

Episode 8 - In Blog We Trust

Stephanie seeks parenting advice by starting an anonymous blog and receives helpful tips until she discovers that the "helpful" users are the kids living under her roof, who have an agenda of their own.

  

Episode 9 - The Gift of the Maggies

Stephanie surprises the family with a visit from her dad at Christmas, but she's the one surprised by Maggie's unexpected reaction to his arrival. The kids are excited because they think another grandparent means more presents.

  

Episode 9 - Dollar Sign

Stephanie is worried that Gabby is becoming too entitled and decides she must get a job to earn money for her car. James and Maggie start a business to teach old people how to speak like teenagers.

  

Episode 10 - Bug Out

Stephanie believes Aaron's fallen into a funk and believes the family is to blame. They all pledge to change their own bad habits for a week but this new unbalance at home only creates more trouble.

  

Episode 10 - Staycation

Stephanie plans the family vacation she never had, but when they're snowed in – Stephanie's dream turns into a staycation as the rest of the Phillips family tries to plot their escape from her endless home "cruise" activities.

  

Episode 11 - Babysit This

Charlie is the speaker at a big event when the sitter cancels so a desperate Stephanie leaves Gabby in charge against his wishes. As the kids try to survive each other at home, an upset Charlie may not make it thru his speech.

  

Episode 11 - Playa Hata

Charlie finally approves of a boy Gabby wants to date, which makes her question her decisions. Meanwhile, James somehowfinds himself with two girlfriends at the same time, not knowing which to choose.

  

Episode 12 - Dine Hard

Stephanie and the kids make the wrong impression when Charlie invites his boss to meet her for the first time.

  

Episode 12 - Hourly Rage

Stephanie discovers Gabby's a tyrant of a group leader and injects herself into Gabby's school project. But the group proves useless, leaving Stephanie to do all the work herself.

  

Episode 13 - True Romance

Aaron confuses Charlie's Valentine's advice and gives Sam all of Stephanie's jewelry. When Stephanie tries to get it back, Sam's eccentric Grandma refuses to return it. A dateless Gabby turns her attention to tormenting James.

  

Episode 13 - Gone Batty

Gabby is determined to expose the truth when she finds out her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend is just using him, and everyoneassumes she is just jealous. Aaron, Charlie, and Maggie search for a bat in the house.

  

Episode 14 - Ain't Over Till It's Over

Stephanie and Charlie consider having a baby of their own when Gabby is leaving for college a year early, and James andAaron want to go live with their mother in Orlando.
