Season 5 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Tough Enough

In this episode, Jay Leno explores some of the world's toughest vehicles. First, he takes comedian Kevin Hart on a near-deadly ride in one of the most outrageous off-road vehicles in the world. Then, he puts Storm-chaser Reed Timmer's "Dominator" stormproof vehicle to the test against a jet airplane. Later, he meets some of the toughest drivers in the world- injured veterans who use high-speed racing as rehabilitation. And finally, Jay pushes the world's fastest armored car -- and himself -- to the limit, in a wild chase where the bad guys use real bullets!

Episode 2 - Cult Classics

Jay Leno asks the question: what makes a car a cult classic? Charlie Sheen attempts to answer that by showing off the outrageous Chrysler Turbo Interceptor he drove in the cult film The Wraith. Jay then checks out music legend Billy Joel's quirky collection of vintage motorcycles in his Long Island garage while reminiscing about the good old days. Later, there's a cult classic battle for the ages when the AMC Pacer takes on the AMC Gremlin to discover which is the least terrible! And Jay attempts to drive a massive, 18-wheeled, post-apocalyptic, articulated monstrosity known only as "The Landmaster."

Episode 3 - Truly Unconventional

In this episode, Jay celebrates the most outrageous, ridiculous, pointless and odd-ball vehicles around. Jay and fellow comedian Jeff Dunham take to the high seas for a race in dolphin-shaped speed vehicles called Seabreachers. Then Jay must choose between driving a giant hotdog or an engine hoist when he competes in America's silliest race: The 24 Hours of Lemons. And he hits the road with Orange is the New Black Star Lea DeLaria in a Vicious Mustang, cruises on land and water in an inflatable Delorean, and attempts to break a speed record-on a lawnmower!

Episode 4 - Modern Icons

Jay is in the mood to debate--and who better to argue with than his old friend Tim Allen? Throughout the episode, Jay and Tim try to decide which is most iconic vehicle from each decade, from the 1960s through the present. Country star Keith Urban's Pagani is an emblem of the 2010s, while Brad Garrett thinks his Aston Martin has the 1960s locked, and race car driver Willie T. Ribbs has some great stories about his 1970s caddy. But when it comes to choosing the most iconic Jay and Tim must go head-to-head to decide once and for all.

Episode 5 - Innovations and Breakthroughs

In this episode, Jay explores the latest developments and newest vehicles in the constantly-evolving automotive world. Comedian Jim Jefferies discovers it's never too late to own a 1,000-horsepower electric Corvette, even one that looks like a Hot Wheels. In San Francisco, Jay takes a spin in the Phantom car-driven remotely by someone 15 miles away! Then in Texas, Jay puts a coin in a giant vending machine and out comes an electric drift car! At Willow Springs Raceway, engineer and builder Bisi Ezerioha hands over the keys to his souped-up minivan. And finally, Jay gets the very first drive in the brand-new mid-engine Corvette!

Episode 6 - Sky's the Limit

Since the turn of the last century, cars and planes have led parallel lives as planes have dictated both the look and the science of cars. In this episode, Jay goes up in the air with his old friend John Travolta to discuss his fascination with airplanes and plane-influenced cars. Whether he's using a Dodge Charger to land a U2 reconnaissance plane or blowing flames in a mind-bogglingly powerful aero-engine car, the sky's the limit for Jay in this thrill-a-minute homage to vehicles influenced by flight.

Episode 7 - Unsung Heroes

Who do we have to thank for racetrack triumphs and film and TV car chases and stunts? The unsung heroes: pit crews and stuntmen! Jay will introduce you to a bunch of people you've never heard of who are the real heroes of the automotive world on and off the screen. Martha Stewart shows off Edsel "Son-of-Henry" Ford's Maine estate, and they take a ride in her pristine Edsel wagon. Jay then attempts to learn the intricate dance of a NASCAR pit crew-and does a pit stop for Joey Logano during an actual race. He then transforms into a crash test dummy in a new Jeep Gladiator before doing a Dukes of Hazzard-style stunt with one of the original Dukes stunt men. In this episode, Jay will jump head-first into some of the most dangerous-and underappreciated-automotive jobs.

Episode 8 - Built for Speed

In this fast-paced episode, Jay has a need for speed! He talks race rivalries with his old friend Matt Damon, who stars as Carroll Shelby in the upcoming film Ford vs. Ferrari. Then Jay gets to try out the new, all-American GT500, with one of his favorite Brits, Seal. Avril Lavigne is a fan of off-roading, but she's never driven on a race track. So she becomes the newest student at Jay's Driving School! And why just race cars? Jay attempts to race some other unlikely vehicles, like a souped-up Barbie kiddie car and the fastest log in the world!

Episode 9 - Dare to Dream

In this episode, Jay hits the road to meet people who've had the courage to throw caution to the wind and go for it. He surprises country superstar Blake Shelton by taking him for a spin in a vintage pick-up truck with a "royal" connection. He goes head to head on the track with comedian turned professional racing car driver Adam Carolla in an endurance race. And Jay takes his life into his own hands when he agrees to teach Saturday Night Live legend Norm McDonald how to drive.

Episode 10 - Risk vs. Reward

In this episode, Jay learns the automotive world is not for the risk-averse. He meets up with maverick tech entrepreneur Elon Musk to test drive his groundbreaking Cybertruck prototype. He invites comedian and Marine Rob Riggle (and his mom) to look at his car history in a new segment called "This Is Your Automotive Life!" Jay also gets to fly a mission on a massive fire-fighting helicopter and meets up with a blind racecar driver determined to drive at 200 mph unassisted.

Episode 11 - Dare to Be Different

Jay meets people who seek out new and different-and often ridiculous-automotive experiences. He takes funnyman Brad Garrett car shopping to find his perfect automotive match. Jay and comedian Bill Burr go for a spin in Bill's dream sleeper. Later he heads to the racetrack to try a crazy new kind of racing with Tim Allen and travels to San Francisco to drive a street-legal, flame-breathing motorized snail. All hail the oddball cars, the one-offs, peculiar builds, weird events and those who dare to be different!

Episode 12 - Even Tougher

In this dirt-spraying, rubber-burning, water-splashing episode, Jay and his friends push various purpose-built vehicles to their limits. Jay takes Matt LeBlanc into the hills in one of the very first off-road vehicles. He challenges comedian Jeff Dunham to another aquatic battle, this time in vintage German Schwimmwagens! Tough guy Actor Danny Trejo shows off his collection of iconic rides—and threatens Jay’s dry cleaner! And Jay checks out Joel McHale’s newly restored Landcruiser and takes him and his dogs on a trip Joel will never forget…as hard as he might try!

Episode 13 - In Pursuit of Perfection

In this episode, Jay checks out vehicles that come close to being perfect. He treats Jon Hamm to a drive down memory lane in another installment of "This is Your Automotive Life!" and they end up cruising in Jay's Mercedes Gullwing. Jay and Fabio talk Italian style while cruising in Fabio's Lamborghini. Plus, Jay tries to stump Robert Herjavec in a series of high-end vehicles in "Stump a Car Nerd!" And Kenny Loggins takes Jay for a ride in a Porsche 356 replica, exactly like the one featured in Top Gun!

Episode 14 - Road Trip

An unforgettable road trip has three important elements: the right vehicle, a good destination, and the perfect companion. Jay explores them all in this episode. He goes off-roading Texas-style with Kelly Clarkson. He recreates a 100-year-old time trial in a 100-year-old car with Billy Gardell. He surprises fellow comedian and talk show host Craig Ferguson with a blast from his past. And he drives from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in a motorized couch!

Episode 15 - You Are What You Drive

The car you drive says a lot about who you are. Jay takes a drive with ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons in one of his newest, most rock-and-roll hot rods. Jay reminds comedian Rob Corddry of various phases in his life in the recurring segment "This is Your Automotive Life!" British comedian Gina Yashere gets to try being 007 in the newest Bond-inspired Aston Martin. And Jon Lovitz and Jay take to the track at Willow Springs to recreate the iconic race from the film Ford vs. Ferrari!

Episode 16 - All Play and No Work

Some cars are just meant for fun! Former Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe gets to live out his childhood fantasy of driving the actual car from The Rockford Files. Jay takes stunt driver and off-road badass Jolene Van Vugt to the desert to test out Polaris' super-fun Razor. Jay then sets up a ridiculous competition with comedian Alonzo Bodden: who can make the best hamburgers...while driving a motorcycle? And Jay tries to fool racecar driver Kurt Busch in the recurring segment "Stump a Car Nerd!"
