Ann Marie moves out of Brewster, New York to an apartment in New York City, with the help of her agent Harvey Peck and much to the chagrin of her father.

Ann agrees to babysit for her neighbor and friend Judy Bessemer, who assures her that she'll be back long before Ann has to leave for her audition for an acting workshop.
