Episode 1 - The Favor

Formerly a struggling stand-up comedian, Wanda Hawkins (series star Wanda Sykes) suddenly finds herself in the spotlight she always craved when she is hired as an on-air correspondent at a television talk show, The Beltway Gang, on local Washington, D.C., station WHDC, thanks to her best friend and segment producer, Keith (series star Dale Godboldo). Wanda's unrestrained field interviews and commentaries make an impact at the conventional station, WHDC, and ratings increase as a result. One problem, however, is that her no-nonsense style infuriates the show's conservative lead moderator, Bradley Grimes (series star Phil Morris). At home, Wanda advises her straightforward neighbor and former sister-in-law, Jenny (series star Tammy Lauren), who is raising her two children, teenage Holly (series star Jurnee Smollett) and younger Barris (series star Robert Bailey Jr.), on her own. When Wanda bets Bradley a huge sum of money that she can get an interview with a famous baseball player, John Becky (Adam Lazarre-White), before he can, she must resort to asking a favor of her scheming slacker ex-husband, Vincent Wickham (recurring guest star Dave Chappelle - "Chappelle's Show," "Undercover Brother"), who knows many celebrities. In return, Vincent asks Wanda to help him overcome his faults so he doesn't lose his fiancé like he lost Wanda. Along with Jenny and Holly, Wanda makes a six-page list of the annoying things that made her divorce Vincent. Despite her best judgment, after Wanda presents the list to him, she finds herself reminiscing with Vincent when their favorite song comes on the radio. However, her criticism is so withering that Vincent leaves, dejected. Wanda worries that he will renege on his promise to deliver Becky to her before Bradley uses his contacts to persuade the sports star. The next day, Wanda is surprised and pleased when Vincent brings Becky to the studio. She wins the bet with Bradley--but her questioning becomes so aggressive that the ballplayer angrily flees the set. Later, she and Vincent bicker good-naturedly as they listen to "their" song again.

Episode 2 - Where's Roger?

Wanda makes a bad first impression on the new station manager, Max (recurring guest star MARK McKINNEY -"Kids in the Hall," "Saturday Night Live"), and tries to reconcile with him by taking him out for drinks. Unfortunately, she doesn't know that Max is a recovering alcoholic.

Episode 3 - Bradley Has a Friend?

Wanda is glad when Bradley's longtime best friend, Lavan (RENO WILSON), asks her on a date--not because she's particularly attracted to him, but because dating Lavan would annoy Bradley. When Wanda and Lavan persuade a very reluctant Bradley to visit a strip club with them, Bradley is mortified to be recognized and photographed. But with Bradley's job as a respected newscaster in peril, Wanda realizes it's time to change her tactics.

Episode 4 - Leave Your Daughter at Home Day

After visiting her aunt Wanda at WHDC, Holly considers her much hipper than her mom, Jenny, and moves in with Wanda. Meanwhile, Keith rents a roulette table, and Wanda hosts a gambling night in her apartment.

Episode 5 - They Shoot Reporters Don't They

As Wanda's filmed segment finishes playing during the live broadcast of The Beltway Gang, she has still not arrived at the studio to sit on the panel and discuss it. Although her fans usually love when she calls in from her cellular telephone, the station manager, Max (recurring guest star MARK McKINNEY), is furious at Wanda's tardiness. Later, while shooting a piece on automated teller machines, Wanda gets stuck in the middle of a bank robbery and is forced to do some real reporting from the scene--Wanda style. Meanwhile, Wanda promises to rent Halloween costumes for Jenny's kids.Halloween episode

Episode 6 - Hurricane Hawkins

Wanda prepares for a visit from her demanding and overbearing mother, Mrs. Arlene Hawkins (JO MARIE PAYTON - "Family Matters"). Much to Wanda's dismay, Mrs. Hawkins immediately becomes fond of Bradley. After arguing with Wanda, the elder Hawkins stays in Jenny's apartment instead of Wanda's.

Episode 7 - Clowns to the Left of Me...

After Wanda does an unflattering feature story on an animal rights organization, protestors surround WHDC, and Wanda must debate the group's beautiful leader, Charlotte Rankin (Jenny McCarthy - "Scary Movie 3," "Singled Out") on the show. Meanwhile, Wanda develops an unexpected attraction to Holly's rescued Rottweiler. Series star Wanda Sykes wrote the episode.

Episode 8 - Back to the Club

At a party celebrating The Beltway Gang's 15th anniversary, Wanda offends the station owner, Glen Chalmers (MADISON MASON), by reacting strongly to his patronizing attitude. When Chalmers cancels the party and threatens to continue punishing the entire staff for Wanda's behavior, station manager Max (recurring guest star MARK McKINNEY) begs her to apologize. But Wanda proudly refuses, resulting in the show's taping being moved to the middle of the night. With everyone hating her, Wanda quits and immediately returns to stand-up comedy. But even there, she angers her bosses, and she eventually comes up with a way to preserve her dignity and return to the show, which is faltering in the ratings without her.

Episode 9 - Only Built for Cuban Wandas

Wanda repeatedly quotes her favorite rap artist, Six Finger Assassin (real-life record producer RZA), on the show, hoping that she will get his attention and meet him sometime. Unfortunately, Six Finger Assassin sends a huge representative, Darius Payne (REGINALD BALLARD), to the show to face off against Bradley instead of coming himself. Despite his frightening reputation, Darius is an erudite debater. And Wanda is later disappointed to learn that her rap idol is a staunch conservative.

Episode 10 - Did Wanda Say a Four-Letter Word?

After Keith's therapist, Dr. Linda (CHERYL HINES), advises him to be more spontaneous, Keith plays a practical joke on Wanda. Surprised that her friend is seeing a therapist, Wanda confronts Dr. Linda--and ends up becoming a client. During analysis, Wanda discovers that she has such a problematic relationship with Bradley because she secretly loves him! She admits the truth to Keith, who is further amazed to learn that Bradley is also attracted to Wanda. When Wanda goes on a date with Bradley, along with Keith and Jenny, Keith finds out that Wanda planned the whole situation as a practical joke for revenge on him. But later, Wanda wonders if she really does have romantic feelings for Bradley . . .

Episode 11 - The Plane Trip

Wanda is excited to go on a bargain romantic ski trip with her new boyfriend, Nate (KEITH DIAMOND), a handsome, charming medical student. Unfortunately, Bradley, Jenny and Keith have also heard about the vacation deal and are on the same airplane as Wanda and Nate. Even worse, when the plane is delayed on the ground, Nate reveals that he is claustrophobic--and an insensitive guy. Wanda desperately comes up with a plan to get herself off the plane before she has to spend three days with Nate and the others. Meanwhile, Keith flirts with a gorgeous woman before finding out that she is a witch.

Episode 12 - The Un-Natural

During another lonely Saturday night, Wanda, Keith and Jenny vow to go on dates with people without trying to pursue meaningful relationships. Whoever cannot resist a second date must pay the others. Unfortunately, all three of them meet great partners: Wanda's is a sexy actor, Jenny's is a grungy biker and Keith's is a reformed porn star. Eventually, they must all admit that they secretly continued seeing their dates--until their lovers' true natures are revealed. Meanwhile, Bradley fears that his longtime girlfriend wants to get married.

Episode 13 - Twas the Knife Before Christmas

Wanda desperately wants to go to a fancy Christmas Eve party with Keith, but when Jenny is hospitalized with appendicitis, Wanda must take care of the kids. Still planning on attending the bash, to the children's disappointment, Wanda hurriedly gets her apartment ready for the holiday. But when Bradley arrives with a Christmas tree, Wanda finally shows a little Christmas spirit. Meanwhile, Wanda must overcome her phobia of hospitals in order to visit Jenny.
