Season 1 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Pilot

Series Premiere. English transplant Stuart Pritchard (Stephen Merchant) is a web designer who owns a house and has an attractive tenant named Jessica (Christine Woods), a struggling actress and aspiring web-series writer/director. Episode 1 - Hello Ladies: The Movie

Attending Jessica's 30th birthday party at a local nightclub, Stuart gets a call from his British ex-girlfriend Trudy, who informs him that she and her husband Mike--the man who stole Trudy from Stuart--are coming to LA for a visit. Determined to impress the pair and prove to Trudy that she made a mistake by leaving him, Stuart decides he needs a hot model on his arm, and gets Glenn to invite him on a swank boat party hosted by a tycoon named Alan. There, he meets a Russian model named Tatiana, who agrees to pose as his girlfriend on a double date with Mike and Trudy. Meanwhile, after an embarrassing yogurt commercial audition, Jessica decides to quit acting, even though she has no idea what to do next. When Tatiana flakes at the last minute, Stuart convinces Jessica to accompany him on his double date. The foursome hits up a swanky, star-studded LA hills house party, and Trudy and Mike are duly impressed. The ruse complete, Stuart and Jessica realize their fake 'date' just might change the course of their friendship.

  

Episode 2 - The Limo

Wade hires a stretch limousine in an effort to win back his estranged wife Marion. Stuart seizes the opportunity to travel around LA in limo style, with Wade and Kives in tow, and picks up three very interested lady tourists. When Stuart learns that Jessica's actress/model friends are hanging out in his place watching art films, he decides to forgo a sure thing in favor of a night on the town with hotter prospects.

  

Episode 3 - The Date

Stuart has an encouraging first date with a yoga-studio employee named Annie, but ends up becoming unhinged. Meanwhile, upset that her frenemy Amelia (Jenny Slate) got a major-film role, Jessica demands that her agent/squeeze Glenn score her an audition, pronto. After a slip in the shower, Wade institutes an emergency-alert system for his friends.

        

Episode 4 - The Dinner

After learning that gay clubs are frequented by straight women, Stuart ditches Wade (who was coming over for movie night) to tag along with Jessica to a gay club. Jessica manages to get herself and Stuart invited to a dinner party of influential tastemakers and groundbreakers, where Stuart hopes to be introduced to fashion models. Back at Stuart's house, Wade is joined by Kives and they have a fun night of their own in Stuart's house.

  

Episode 5 - Pool Party

Stuart plans an epic pool party in hopes that Kimberly, a model he recently met, will attend. Jessica finds inspiration in a homeless 19-year-old named Heaven.

  

Episode 6 - Long Beach

Stuart bonds with some construction guys, who invite him for a night out in Long Beach with promises of his meeting easy women. Jessica gives Wade advice on how to win back Marion after 30 days of no communication.

  

Episode 7 - The Wedding

Attending a wedding with Jessica and Glenn, Stuart tries to reconfigure the seating plan after learning he won't be at a table with attractive, single women. Meanwhile, Jessica waits to hear about her call-back audition for the lead role in a network show.

        

Episode 8 - The Drive

(Season One Finale) Stuart brags to anyone and everyone about his pending night out with Kimberly. Later, he drives Wade, Jessica and Kives around to some parties, including Amelia's birthday, where Jessica relishes that the tables have turned with Amelia.
