Episode 1 - In Sight of the Lord, Pt. 1

The case of an ex-soldier found dead with his skull nailed to the floor in 1948 has been reopened due to media attention and pressure created by his grandson. The team discover a similar murder dating back to the 1960s. Then the killer strikes again and a further victim is found nailed to the floor - this time in a nursing home for the elderly. Is World War II the common link? The team must find the next possible victim, but no one knows where he is.

Episode 2 - In Sight of the Lord, Pt. 2

Having established that the killer's victims are the surviving members of the same WWII regiment, Boyd and his team must find the next possible target, but no one knows where he is. The motive for the murders becomes clear when they uncover the story of a brutal gang rape that led to a pregnancy and suicide.

Episode 3 - False Flag, Pt. 1

Contemporary London: A garage is demolished. As the building falls apart, demolition work is halted at the sight of a skeleton sitting in the driver's seat. An unexploded bomb is found under the car which is soon linked to an Irish terrorist cell from the late 1970s. The team tread carefully to unravel the story of the would-be bomber. Why was he killed and why did the bomb fail to detonate?

Episode 4 - False Flag, Pt. 2

Boyd is told by an ex-army officer that the security services did not always play fair in Northern Ireland in the 1970s. When he discovers that his car has been bugged, he realises that things haven't changed. The ex-officer promises Boyd new evidence, but is killed in a car bomb before he can deliver it. As the evidence starts pointing back to the assassinated Government minister, the solution appears to be clear.

Episode 5 - Fugue States, Pt. 1

The team pick up a case from 1988 involving a nationwide hunt for two twins who were taken from their home during the Notting Hill Carnival. Fifteen years later, one of the twins, Jason, is admitted to hospital after a traffic accident. The hunt now begins to establish where his sister, Cindy, might be and if she is still alive. For Mel, who was adopted, the case has personal repercussions when she decides to track down her own birth mother.

Episode 6 - Fugue States, Pt. 2

After knocking out a junior doctor, Jason has fled the hospital and the driver who knocked him over has been found murdered. Attention now focuses on the dead driver's past relationship with Jason's adopted parents and the hospital doctor who oversaw Jason's admission.

Episode 7 - Anger Management, Pt. 1

Sam Jacobs is released from prison to start a new life. But then a man is murdered in the hostel where Sam stays and soon he is a suspect. But it looks as though he was in fact the intended victim. Sam has a hidden past which the team can only speculate about. On the surface he appears to be a devoted family man, so why does he have influential connections in the criminal world?

Episode 8 - Anger Management, Pt. 2

The team attempts to unravel the secret past of their guitar teacher suspect and his criminal associate. They finally uncover the fatal consequences of resigning from what was meant to be a lifetime job. Sam is brought in and he admits everything. He even volunteers to show Boyd where the gun is buried. But he has no intention of going back inside.

Episode 9 - The Hardest Word, Pt. 1

A man is found dead at a hotel, the result of a violent sadomasochistic act. The killer has carved 'Sorry' into the victim's back. The cold case unit is already investigating a similar case from four years ago. The investigating teams join forces and discover that despite leading heterosexual lives, both men appear to have been targeted because they were homosexual.

Episode 10 - The Hardest Word, Pt. 2

Episode 11 - Shadowplay, Pt. 1

A young woman with psychiatric problems has killed her family through an arson attack on her family's home. She claims she was incited to do this by a mysterious figure known only as "The Shepherd." It transpires that two other women with mental illnesses claimed they were incited to commit murder by the same person in the past. The team needs to discover if this is a journey through the imagination or reality.

Episode 12 - Shadowplay, Pt. 2

Certain now that the Shepherd exists, the team needs to find out why he is targeting the patients of the psychiatrist who alerted them to his existence in the first place. Could the doctor be the Shepherd? But as the team gets close to solving the case, Mel falls victim to one of the disturbed young women - a painful and tragic reminder never to underestimate the dangers of the job.
