Season 1 Episode Guide
Episode 1 - The Immigrants1871. Billy McCarty is a 12-year-old living with his young brother and his parents, Patrick and Kathleen, in squalid accommodation in New York. Irish immigrants, they can't find jobs and are advised to go west, to a land of new opportunities. So, they join a wagon-train travelling out to a place called Coffeyville, Kansas. But their destination may not be the golden land of their dreams.

Episode 2 - The RattlerKathleen travels with her young sons towards Santa Fe and a new beginning. There Kathleen finds a job working as a waitress, but life is hard. She meets a man -- Henry Antrim -- who seems respectable and kindly. For the sake of the children, she agrees to marry him, but Bill is suspicious of Antrim's motives. We cut forward in time. Billy is 5 years older and has some very hard lessons to learn.

Episode 3 - AntrimAntrim and Kathleen, with her two sons Billy and Joe, have moved on to Silver City to escape Antrim's creditors and start a new life. Antrim tries his hand at mining but soon returns to his life of drinking and whoring. Meanwhile, Billy fails to find a job as a cowboy, and meets Jesse Evans, a petty criminal but a charismatic figure. But, when tragedy strikes, Billy loses everything.

Episode 4 - InterludeBilly finds fresh trouble when he falls in with a character called Alias who persuades him to change his name to William H. Bonney. And when, in a drunken brawl, Billy kills a blacksmith in self-defense and ends up charged with murder, he ends up on the run...and straight into the arms of a young woman – who also happens to be the girlfriend of Jesse Evans.

Episode 5 - A Little Bit of ParadiseRather than share his girlfriend with Jesse, Billy once more takes to the trail that leads him into New Mexico – and yet more trouble. There, he falls in with a young gambler called Segura. Billy and Segura enjoy several dramatic escapades together, including a failed attempt to rob a bank, being fleeced by two beautiful young women, and fleecing, in turn, a dangerous Mexican poker dealer.

Episode 6 - FateAlways on the run from his past, Billy bumps into an ex-buffalo hunter called Pat Garrett, who has joined up with Jesse Evans and his 7 Rivers Gang. Billy joins them but he still dreams of someday being able to go straight... just not yet. With law makers already closing in on the gang, they plan to flee to Lincoln County – but not before Billy fulfils one last promise.

Episode 7 - At the HouseBilly joins Jesse, Pat Garrett and another outlaw called Frank Baker, as well as the rest of the 7 Rivers Gang in their new camp just outside the town of Lincoln. The gang is now working for Lincoln’s most powerful boss, Major Murphy. Murphy wants them to get rid of his new competitor, John Tunstall, and Billy soon finds himself torn between the two rivals.

Episode 8 - The RampageWe are on the eve of the Lincoln County War. Jesse and the gang are encouraged by Murphy to ramp up their attacks on those famers, mostly Mexican, who have signed up with Tunstall. Without his presence, Jesse and the gang go on a violent rampage, shooting several farmers and some of their wives and daughters. It’s the last straw for Billy who decides to change sides... an extremely dangerous move.
