Chickens Season 1 Episodes
Season 1 Episode Guide
Episode 1 - Episode 1It's Bonfire Night and the women of Rittle-on-Sea are struggling to decide who should be the Guy they burn, whittling their options down to three. In the meantime, Cecil is forced to join the Needlework Guild to demonstrate his commitment to the war effort, which, in turn, prompts an annoyed George to step up his anti-war activities. Elsewhere, Bert and Agnes also come to a mutually-beneficial arrangement. |
Episode 2 - Episode 2The first Rittle man has died in battle and, never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Bert makes a move on the dead man's attractive widow, Gwyneth. Elsewhere, George sparks controversy when it turns out he doesn't believe in corporal punishment, leading to a terse one-on-one with the Headmaster, while Cecil struggles to find a plumber to fix the cottage's brown water problem. |
Episode 3 - Episode 3The boys are immediately suspicious when, out of the blue, a pretty girl named Penny asks Cecil to be her boyfriend. Maybe, just maybe, she thinks Cecil is a catch. Or, she's got an ulterior motive. Back at the cottage, Bert crosses the line one too many times and, following an incident involving a lack of toilet paper and a poem George had written for Winky, finds himself out on his ear. Meanwhile, dedicated to the cause, the ladies of Rittle-on-Sea also step up their hate campaign against the trio by implementing a 'noise rota'. |
Episode 4 - Episode 4With so few men around, Cecil becomes paranoid that he is being systematically emasculated. Outraged, he decides to take matters into his own hands and prove his manhood once and for all. Meanwhile, despite hating everything that the boys stand for, the Headmaster visits the cottage in search of some male company and gets on so famously with Bert that he asks him to cover for George. But George is dismayed when Bert's leftfield approach to teaching proves to be a hit. |
Episode 5 - Episode 5George has some exciting news to share. Miss Trimble is popping over for dinner, yep, that's right, local-village-leper - Miss Trimble. While draft dodger Bert gradually warms to the idea, going so far as to have a bath, Cecil is utterly horrified, even more so when their guest stands them up. Alarmed that a woman rumoured to have a highly contagious, permanently disfiguring skin condition considers herself to be above them on the social ladder, Cecil performs a complete switcheroo and sets out to win her friendship, whether she likes it or not. |
Episode 6 - Episode 6The soldiers are back on leave, which means Cecil, George and Bert finally have some other men to talk to. One soldier approaches George for advice on becoming a conscientious objector, while another confronts Bert regarding some stolen property. Cecil, though, finds he has trouble reconnecting with his old friends. |
