Episode 1 - A Question of Identity

Erwin van Haarlem (Bernard Hill) is a man of mystery. Living in London in 1986 and ostensibly a Dutch art dealer, he is in fact spying for Czechoslovakia with a mission to track down supporters of the dissident group, Chapter 77.

     

Episode 2 - A Terrible Coldness

The thoroughly unpleasant tale of Graham Young, a convicted poisoner at the tender age of 14, is told in this intriguing edition of Crime Story starring Mark Womack and Christine Mackie.

     

Episode 3 - All Good Friends - The Case of The Handless Corpse

A sinister case of intrigue, drugs and death. In 1979 two divers discovered the body of a young man in a flooded Lancashire quarry. The body was weighted down and both hands had been removed at the wrists.

     

Episode 4 - Deadly Obsession

A story of jealousy and unrequited love which led to murder, based on the true story of Kathleen Calhaem, a respected business woman from Cheddar in Somerset. The murder was brutal and sinister involving battery and repeated stabbing.

     

Episode 5 - Dear Roy Love Gillian

Gillian is a shy 16-year old who becomes a pen-friend to Roy, a young prisoner. Plans for their first meeting end in tragedy. Starring Tara Simpson, Lawrence Mullin and Julia Booth.

Muriel McKay was kidnapped from her home in Wimbledon on 29th December 1969 and her body was never found. The media was enlisted to try and help the police to find her. But the police blamed the media involvement for their failures.
