Jean-Marie Faustin Godefroid de Havelange, also known as João Havelange, allegedly one of the most corrupt figures in the history of soccer and FIFA. With a high dose of humor and irony, El Presidente: Brazil showcases everything Havelange possibly won and lost, stole and gambled, and how he turned this beautiful sport into a cash printing machine.

  

Episode 1 - Call me João

Amazon hires Sergio Jadue to tell the origin story of the corruption scandalous behind FIFA. This is how we meet Jean-Marie Havelange who, after being defeated and humiliated in the ‘66 World Cup, will take on European power and look for allies to start his rise to the top of soccer power. And for that, Jean-Marie will need to become João.

  

Episode 2 - Africa, Here I Go

Havelange discovers that the secret to getting the votes needed is to go to countries who have also been abandoned by the Europeans. He embarks on an impossible tour through Africa, an odyssey for which he will need the support of Pelé, despite their differences. Meanwhile, Isabel begins her own journey after becoming a new character in the story and fate puts her close to Castor de Andrade.

  

Episode 3 - The Election

Havelange faces the decisive hours of FIFA's presidential election and the race for votes rages on. Jadue introduces us to the Dasslers and the history of the Adidas family, key members in the coming future. The attraction between Isabel and Castor grows as she rekindles her passion for gambling.

  

Episode 4 - Welcome to Europe

The vote is defined: by a stroke of luck, Joao wins and becomes president of FIFA. He moves with Isabel to Switzerland, but she doesn't feel herself neither in Zurich nor as João's wife anymore. Havelange tries to consolidate his power, facing a world of old European practices where Kaser is a constant obstacle in his growth plans.

  

Episode 5 - God Save the Sheep

The great World Cup that Havelange is planning in Argentina is at risk because of the coup d'état held by the military government. Kaser plans with the Europeans to change the venue and makes sure no one will insure the Cup. Against the law, and risking his own marriage with Isabel, he must find a way to guarantee his first World Cup as the president.

  

Episode 6 - Humans and Rights

Havelange faces his first World Cup as the FIFA President, but it all turns out to be chaos. A forbidden video against the military government leaks and the Argentine organization is a disaster, while Havelange's marriage falls apart. Pressured by the Adidas siblings and threatened by the Argentinian Dictator, João needs to decide if he will fix a match and stain the only thing he loves: football.

  

Episode 7 - I Live for FIFA

João builds his big new FIFA HQ but a sudden family loss overshadows his moment. As the Japan ‘79 Youth World Cup takes place, he plunges into a maelstrom of lack of control that threatens to destroy everything he built. Isabel ends up separating from Castor, while Jadue falls in love with his own creation. While everything falls apart, Kaser prepares his final blow to take Havelange out of FIFA.

  

Episode 8 - What Corruption?

During the 1982 World Cup in Spain, Kaser and Castor team up to accuse João of corruption with Faye's help and strong evidence. Cornered, João must count on Isabel to strive as the president and make sure the story will be told in his favor.
