Episode 1 - No Friends Like Old Friends

Frankie's thrilled to be reconnecting with her wartime friend Louise in London, but smells trouble when Louise doesn't show up for a planned lunch at the Savoy Hotel. Joining forces with Agatha Christie, Frankie learns that Louise and her uptight husband James had quarrelled before her disappearance. He swears he doesn't know where Louise went, but isn't concerned - she's disappeared after arguments before and always come back. Frankie and Agatha discover that Louise had checked into a small hotel, but find her room in a shambles. When the hotel clerk tells them she saw a mystery man carry an unconscious Louise out of the hotel in the middle of the night, Frankie zeroes in on the husband. Convinced he knows more than he's saying, Frankie sneaks into Louise's house and discovers a hidden key for a safety deposit box… in Toronto. She calls in the troops, and Trudy, Mary and Flo leap into action, going to great lengths to access the contents of the box. Meanwhile, Frankie and Agatha track Louise to a nursing home that looks a lot more like a sanatorium. They finagle their way inside and discover a feverish Louise talking nonsense. Agatha recognizes Louise's symptoms as belladonna poisoning, something she saw during the war; without an antidote, and quick, Louise could die. Desperate to save her friend and determined to discover who's behind her incapacitation, Frankie confronts Louise's husband. He swears his innocence, but Frankie's not buying it… until word comes from Toronto that turns the entire case on its head. Can Frankie and Agatha get to the bottom of the mystery before Louise succumbs to the belladonna?

Episode 2 - Counterpunch

While tracking down a missing man, Frankie and the gang discover an underground boxing gym, where she comes face-to-face with former lover, boxer Moses Page. Suspicion is aroused when their search of the gym, the last place the missing man was seen, turns up a pile of empty bottles of a "wonder elixir" hawked by who Frankie assumes is a charlatan. While the brash showman, Harland Walcott, slinging this product claims it's healthy, Frankie and company think it's to blame for the erratic behaviour the missing man displayed before disappearing. With assistance from Walcott himself, Flo uses her chemical wiles to deduce if there's science behind the mysterious beverage selling like hotcakes and stealing business from local pharmacies, or if it's snake oil--- though she gets distracted by chemistry of a different kind, working so closely with someone who's as enthused by the scientific process as she is. When the test results reveal the elixir in its original formula is safe, it's clear someone is adding cocaine to Walcott's product, sending customers into hyperactive spirals. But why? And who would want to take down this honest, if a little showy, chemist? When Frankie and Trudy discover that Walcott is being harassed and extorted by a corrupt cop, they shift gears, devising a plan to take down the real criminal preying on innocent Toronto citizens. Hoping to exploit this nefarious cop's penchant for gambling, Frankie enlists Mose's help with a scheme that requires her to get into the ring, boxing in a match she's guaranteed to win… just as long as she can control who her opponent is. It's all hands on deck for fight night as the Drake Detective Agency aims to deliver a total knockout to a corrupt cop.

Episode 3 - School Ties...School Lies

During an educational visit to Briarlane Academy, a swank all-girls private school, Flo meets precocious and talkative youngster, Roya. The young student beseeches Flo to use her medical knowledge to test the accuracy of the coroner's findings in the death of beloved teacher, Miss Georgia Henning. When Flo's findings clash with the official coroner's report, which deemed the death an accident, the Drake Detective Agency takes the case. Frankie and Trudy make their way to the school grounds and with some inside help from Roya, dig into the life of Miss Henning. Their investigation reveals Miss Henning to be a beacon of progressivism bumping up against the conservative, traditional and stuffy Briarlane Academy establishment. A creationist teacher and a rigid headmaster aren't the only suspects though, as deeper digging by the gals (with a little help from little Roya) reveals a fuller picture of Henning, one of midnight trysts, heated arguments with friends and forbidden love affairs. The more time they spend on the pristine campus of Briarlane, the more the sheen wears off, exposing an institution whose claims of purity may not be as true as they seem. With more than enough suspects in their sights, Frankie must rely on the inside knowledge of the ever-present detective-in-training Roya to figure out who was behind this private school tragedy. In doing so, Frankie may uncover an even greater scandal, one that threatens to take down the school entirely. Meanwhile, Mary, frustrated with the rampant sexism at the police preventing her from realizing her dreams of being a full-fledged officer, decides to take matters into her own hands and prove once and for all that she has what it takes.

Episode 4 - A Brother In Arms

A night out at the new speakeasy in town takes a sobering turn when Frankie and Trudy find a man lurking in the darkness of Drake Private Detectives. When they confront him, the man claims he's Jack Drake - Ned's son and Frankie's half-brother. Reeling, Frankie has questions, but they're silenced when Jack announces he's brought her a case. Frankie and Trudy listen as Jack explains his friend Li Chang is facing the noose, convicted of shooting his former boss Raymond Fordham in cold blood. But Li Chang is innocent, a victim of racism in the justice system, and Jack needs Frankie to exonerate his friend. After a visit to Wendy Quon confirms Jack's view of the case, and situates it within a shameful line of early 20th century racism against Chinese immigrants in Canada, Frankie and Trudy take the case. Despite Nora's suspicions of estranged brother Jack's motives, a full-scale investigation is launched into what may be a tragic miscarriage of justice. When they pay Li Chang a visit on death row, Li explains that Fordham had fired all of his Chinese workers two weeks before his death; the only reason Li was at the scene of the murder was to collect his colleagues' final wages. When our detectives visit the crime scene, the evidence they find pokes even more holes in the story that put Li Chang behind bars. It's clear the truth will require some digging, and after Chang's execution date is pushed up a day, they must race against the clock to vindicate this wrongfully accused man. Will they discover the truth of the murder in time, or will Frankie's relationship with her brother begin on a tragic note?

Episode 5 - Things Better Left Dead

In a shocking turn of events, Frankie discovers the body of her best friend and fellow detective, Trudy Clarke! But surely, this can't be true, can it? As the police launch an inquiry into this apparent death, Frankie does some digging of her own. Her hunch is that Trudy's death is related to a case that landed on her desk four days prior, an investigation into the murder of Edgar Bishop, husband to Verna, who hired Frankie. Days ago, Trudy and Frankie's interview with Verna's maid revealed the woman of the house's recent interest in "spiritualism", which led her to frequently hire a man named "Kardec" for his claimed ability to speak to the dead. When questioned, Verna is adamant her employment of this medium is borne out of a desire to speak with her deceased siblings, and was Edgar's idea to begin with, but Frankie senses something off. Despite Verna's insistence that Kardec has been a help to her family, Frankie tracks down the single-named medium. She grills Kardec on the truth behind his wild claims and decides to test him, and his "talking table" (an early iteration of a Ouija board) by agreeing to a reading. When Frankie's "reading" comes up empty, it's Trudy's turn in the spiritual seat. In a chilling turn of events, Kardec's board points to danger in Trudy's future. Did he predict her death? Or is he a charlatan more focused on touching the wallets of the living than he is connecting them with their deceased relatives? The Drake Detective Agency is thrown for a loop when a new suspect, seemingly happy to confess to murdering Edgar turns up. But this suspect's connection to Kardec only increases Frankie's suspicions. Nothing is what it seems as the investigation into Trudy's death and Kardec collides.
