Episode 1 - Genesis, Pt. 1 - September 13, 1956

On the premiere episode of "Quantum Leap," Sam Beckett wakes up in 1956, disoriented, suffering from amnesia, but he has the awful realization that he does not belong there. He is Captain Hank Stratton, Air Force Pilot. He has a pregnant wife named Peg and a son named Mikey. When Sam goes up in the B-50 aircraft with Hank's best friend Capt. "Bird Dog" Birdell and Capt. Tony LaMott, they think he is joking when he insists he does not know how to fly. Part 1 of 2.

  

Episode 1 - Season 1, Episode 1: Genesis, Pt. 1 - September 13, 1956

Episode 2 - Genesis, Pt. 2 - September 13, 1956

Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula), a brilliant scientist, takes part in the Quantum Leap experiment which lands him in 1956 as a test pilot. With the help of his holographic "Observer" (Dean Stockwell), Sam remembers the experiment and learns that his fate is to "quantum leap" back and forth in time with the hope of returning to his own present in the conclusion of the premiere episode of "Quantum Leap." The episode was written by series executive producer Donald P. Bellisario and directed by David Hemmings.

  

Episode 2 - Season 1, Episode 2: Genesis, Pt. 2 - September 13, 1956

Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula), a brilliant scientist, takes part in the Quantum Leap experiment which lands him in 1956 as a test pilot. With the help of his holographic "Observer" (Dean Stockwell), Sam remembers the experiment and learns that his fate is to "quantum leap" back and forth in time with the hope of returning to his own present in the conclusion of the premiere episode written by series executive producer Donald P. Episode 3 - Star-Crossed - June 15, 1972

Poised with chalk in hand, Sam is Dr. Gerald Bryant, an English Literature professor, who faces a classroom filled with 'adoring' mini-skirted college co-eds. The Observer informs Sam that he has become Bryant to steer Jamie Lee, who is hopelessly in love with him, back to her boyfriend Oscar, a football player from Ohio State University. Apparently, Dr. Bryant and Jamie Lee were married in a shotgun wedding that ruined their lives. However, Sam is solely interested in rekindling a relationship with Donna – the girl who left him at the altar.

  

Episode 3 - Season 1, Episode 3: Star-Crossed - June 15, 1972

Episode 4 - Season 1, Episode 4: The Right Hand of God - October 24, 1974

Sam Beckett looks into the mirror and sees the face of "Kid Cody," a boxer who has won the majority of his 37 fights but bears scar tissue on his face and his soul. He learns from Sister Sarah and Sister Angela that his previous owner willed his contract to Saint Mary's Church. The good Sisters and Father Muldooney transform their bingo parlor into a workout room to prepare for Cody's upcoming championship fight. Sister Angela hopes that with the $20,000 winnings from Cody's match they will build a new chapel to help the poor.

  

Episode 4 - The Right Hand of God - October 24, 1974

Episode 5 - Season 1, Episode 5: How the Tess Was Won - September 28, 1956

He tidies up his tuxedo and rejoins the wedding reception for Primo, Frankie's brother and Angela, the Godfather's daughter. Sam is treated like royalty despite the fact he does not understand or speak Italian. While his wife is busy with the reception, Don Geno wants his men to find out who is 'messing' with his girlfriend Teresa. Sam is even coaxed into singing 'Volare' and is relieved when the Observer/Albert prompts him with the lyrics. The Observer has little information on Frankie, except for the fact that he is a hit man and the son of Tony, a small-time Mafia hood who took a bullet meant for Geno.

  

Episode 6 - Double Identity - November 8, 1965

Episode 7 - Season 1, Episode 7: The Color of Truth - August 8, 1955

Sam leaps into the body of Jessie Tyler, a 70 year old black man who lives in Red Dog, Alabama, and works for Miz Melny, the 75 year old widow of the one-time Governor of Alabama. Sam/Jessie drives her to the cemetery where she visits her husband's grave. Albert informs him that Miz Melny will be killed tomorrow when a train hits her car at a crossing. Sam/Jessie brings Miz Melny home and is chastised by Clayton, Miz Melny's son, for sitting at the lunch counter at Miz Patty's diner. Sam/Jessie becomes livid when Clayton tells his mother to keep her "negro" in line. Albert, who participated in the Civil Rights marches, orders Sam to stay out of politics, but Sam begs to differ, hoping that his reason for the quantum leap is to initiate the Civil Rights movement.

  

Episode 7 - The Color of Truth - August 8, 1955

Sam leaps into the body of Jessie Tyler, a 70 year old black man who lives in Red Dog, Alabama, and works for Miz Melny, the 75 year old widow of the one-time Governor of Alabama. Sam becomes Cameron Wilson, an awkward 17-year-old high school student, with a penchant for junk food and the acne to prove it. Cam's car, the 'Nomad' is the subject of ridicule by the cool car club members, and he himself is the object of first love by Jill, a tomboy. Cheryl, Cam's sister, excitedly announces that she and her fiance, Bob Thompson, have been accepted to the Peace Corps. Albert, the Observer, informs Sam that according to Ziggy, Bob ended up selling used cars for his father and was arrested for drunk driving; Cheryl, who never joined the Peace Corps, was a battered wife. Sam must stop the wedding.

Sam quantum leaps to find himself gun in hand looking at a dead man's body. He is now Nick Allen, private investigator, and the dead man was his partner Phil Grimsley. Nick bears a striking resemblance to Humphrey Bogart. Sam fights the feeling of deja vu because he knows beforehand that he is going to meet...Seymour, who works at the magazine stand and reveres Nick. Seymour tells Nick the word is that Phil was killed by a man called the "Klapper." Sam enters Nick's office and is met by a drop-dead, gorgeous redhead named Allison, who also happens to be Phil's widow and Nick's platonic love interest. In the office desk, Nick finds a manuscript. He realizes he is not experiencing deja vu...he read the book!

  

Episode 9 - Season 1, Episode 9: Play it Again, Seymour - April 14, 1953

Episode 10 - Season 2, Episode 1: Honeymoon Express - April 27, 1960

In order to convince a Senate Committee to renew funding for the Quantum Leap project, Albert must have Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) prove his existence in the past by altering a historical event, and Sam (Scott Bakula) is also a busy newlywed faced with his bride's ex-husband who is intent on killing him.

  

Episode 10 - What Price Gloria? - October 16, 1961

In a flash of light, Sam becomes a gorgeous woman named Samantha who is languishing in a bubble bath. Samantha's roommate Gloria reminds her that it is her first day on the job as the youngest executive secretary in their company. Sam/Samantha and Gloria arrive at National Motor Company, and they find out that Samantha's new boss is Buddy Wright, who has just been promoted to Vice President. Sam prays for help when Wright calls her into the office and chases her around the desk. Samantha does not date married men, but Wright points out that he is responsible for her promotion. Sam tells Wright this is a case of sexual harassment, but of course, this is a moot issue in 1961.

  

Episode 11 - Season 2, Episode 2: Disco Inferno - April 1, 1976

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into the life of a stuntman on a low-budget disaster movie who must prevent his frail brother from emulating him. With Dean Stockwell.

  

Episode 11 - A Portrait for Troian - February 7, 1971

Sam becomes Dr. Timothy Mintz, a parapsychologist from a California university who is helping expose the ghost of Troian Claridge's dead husband Julian. Sam meets first the stern housekeeper, Miss Stoltz and Jimmy, Troian's brother, who does not like Dr. Mintz' involvement with his sister. Albert informs Sam that historically, all the Claridges died violent and unnatural deaths -- for instance, in 1840, Nathaniel Claridge found his wife and butler together and drowned them in the lake behind the mansion.

  

Episode 12 - Season 2, Episode 3: The Americanization of Machiko - August 4, 1953

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps back to Ohio in 1953 and becomes a Navy man with a Japanese wife, who must make his family, as well as the townspeople, accept her and their marriage to change the course of events.

  

Episode 13 - Season 2, Episode 4: What Price Gloria? - October 16, 1961

Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body Andrew Ross, a brilliant, blind pianist, who must save his assistant Michele from being murdered in Central Park.

  

Episode 15 - Season 2, Episode 6: Good Morning, Peoria - September 9, 1959

It is 1959 and Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) has quantum leaped into Howlin' Chick Howell, a disc jockey who must save the radio station from its demise when rock 'n' roll is banned.

  

Episode 16 - Season 2, Episode 7: Thou Shalt Not.... February 2, 1974

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of a Rabbi who must help his brother's family resolve their anger and guilt over the death of their son, which drove his brother's wife into an affair, and ruined their marriage and their lives.

  

Episode 17 - Season 2, Episode 8: Jimmy - October 14, 1964

Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) is given the difficult task of "mainstreaming" a mentally retarded man into the everyday world, or he will live out his days in an institution.

  

Episode 18 - Season 2, Episode 9: So Help Me, God... July 29, 1957

Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) leaps into a courtroom as a defense attorney, and by pleading his client, a lovely black woman innocent of murder, must win her case despite the bigoted courtroom atmosphere and fixed trial, or she will be sentenced to the electric chair.

  

Episode 19 - Season 2, Episode 10: Catch a Falling Star - May 21, 1979

Sam (Scott Bakula) becomes an actor in a Broadway production, who must save the lead, a brilliant performer with a drinking problem, from falling on stage and ruining his life and is given the opportunity to court his piano teacher who was his first love when he was fourteen.

Episode 37 - Season 3, Episode 6: Miss Deep South - June 7, 1958

Sam (Scott Bakula) becomes a contestant in the Miss Deep South Beauty Pageant with the double task of insuring that he places third in the contest, while keeping a beautiful young girl from destroying her life by posing nude for a photographer.

  

Episode 38 - Season 3, Episode 7: Black On White On Fire - August 11, 1965

The year is 1965 in Los Angeles, the time of Malcolm X and black awareness---and Sam (Scott Bakula), a black pre-med student, must keep his love for a white girl alive, despite the prejudice and anger surrounding them on the eve of the Watts riots.

  

Episode 39 - Season 3, Episode 8: Great Spontini - May 9, 1974

Sam (Scott Bakula) must perform a different kind of magic when he becomes Harry Spontini, and he must fight his estranged wife who wants to take custody of their daughter.

It is the night before Christmas, and Sam (Scott Bakula) is working for Michael Blake, one of the richest men in the country, and he re-enacts Dickens' "Scrooge" to remind his boss that there is more to life than material wealth, before a Salvation Army mission for the poor and destitute is demolished to make room for Blake Plaza.

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of thirteen year old Butchie Rickett, who must keep his mother from running out on her family.

  

Episode 43 - Season 3, Episode 12: 8-1/2 Months - November 15, 1955

Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) must labor to make things right when he leaps into the body of an unwed, pregnant teenager, and he must find a way for her to keep the baby.

  

Episode 44 - Season 3, Episode 13: Future Boy - October 6, 1957

Sam (Scott Bakula) becomes sidekick to Captain Galaxy, a popular 1957 children’s TV character, in order to keep the actor who plays the Captain out of a mental institution due to his obsession with a time travel machine, which is curiously based on Sam’s Quantum Leap theory.

Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) leaps into the life of an "exotic" dancer who must help a talented, deaf dancer avoid falling into a tragic life.

  

Episode 46 - Season 3, Episode 15: Piano Man - November 10, 1985

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of a piano-lounge player who finds himself on the run, together with his former music partner, from a mob killer who wants the lounge lizard eliminated.

  

Episode 47 - Season 3, Episode 16: Southern Comforts - August 4, 1961

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of a pimp running a New Orleans bordello, and he is called on to save one of the women in the house from an unseemly demise.

  

Episode 48 - Season 3, Episode 17: Glitter Rock - April 12, 1974

When Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of Geoffrey 'Tonic' Mole, the lead singer of the 70’s English rock band named King Thunder, Sam’s mission is to prevent the brutal stabbing of "Tonic" by an unknown assailant.

Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of bounty hunter Gordon O’Reilly who has prisoner (Diane Frost) in his custody, wrongly accused of embezzling a million dollars.

  

Episode 50 - Season 3, Episode 19: Last Dance Before an Execution - May 12, 1971

Sam Beckett’s (Scott Bakula) mission is to be Jesus Ortega, who, along with his accomplice Raul Casta, is held on Florida’s death row for the robbery and murder of a priest, Father Torrelli. Enlisting the help of a powerhouse new female attorney, Tearsa Lorrea, Jesus Ortega attempts to clear himself of the murder charges.

  

Episode 51 - Season 3, Episode 20: Heart of a Champion - July 23, 1955

Sam (Scott Bakula) finds himself up against two-300 lb. wrestlers, known as the Shiloh Boys.

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of Captain John Beckett, his great grandfather, a union infantry officer shot by confederate soldiers in the middle of the Civil War. Sam’s (Scott Bakula) mission is to save Isaac, a slave, from being killed and also to make sure his great grandfather marries Olivia, a Southern aristocrat so they can have children.

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into the body of Elvis Presley two days before he is signed by Mr. Phillips, of Sun Records. He is there to make certain that not only Elvis but also Sue Anne Winters gets a recording contract as well so they can both follow their dreams.

Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into a tavern in Cokeburg, Pennsylvania, as himself on his day of birth. He befriends a wise bartender, Alberto Bellisario and a group of coal miners, on the series finale.
