Series star Aaron Ashmore appears as Jimmy Olsen, and series star John Glover appears as Lionel Luthor.

Clark and Lois discover a spaceship belonging to Kara (recurring guest star Laura Vandervoort), the mysterious young woman who recently saved Lex. But before Clark and Lois can open it, Kara appears and knocks Lois unconscious. Clark is shocked when Kara tells him she is there to protect baby Kal-El. Kara left Krypton as a teenager, simultaneously with the infant Clark, and has unknowingly been in suspended animation ever since crash-landing in the dam, so she is now younger than him. Despite Kara's arrival, a despondent Clark decides that, without Lana, there is nothing keeping him in Smallville, so he heads to the Fortress of Solitude to begin his training. However, Jor-El tells him that Kara's father, Jor-El's brother, was evil, and Kara must be watched closely. Clark must stay in Smallville to find out why she came to Earth. Meanwhile, Lex makes a stunning discovery regarding Lana and Project 33.1.

Although Kara (recurring guest star Laura Vandervoort) desperately wants to make friends and fit in on Earth, Clark tells her to keep a low profile until she can get her powers under control. Despite Clark's warnings, Kara signs up for the Miss Sweet Corn beauty pageant and meets the competition: Tyler ("America's Next Top Model" winner Eva Marcille), Carly (Elisa King) and Tempest (Christine Chatelain), three meteor-infected vixens who plan to use their powers to steal a treasure map to a hidden Smallville time capsule. After Tyler witnesses Kara using her powers, the girls pretend to be Kara's friends, but they are really planning to use her for their devious scheme.

Desperate to get rid of her power, Chloe makes an appointment to see Knox, unaware that he has a nefarious plan to kill his patients and harvest their organs.
