Episode 1 - The Empty ChairNessa Stein is a beautiful and powerful Anglo-Israeli businesswoman who strives for equality and peace in the Middle East, heading up the powerful Stein Foundation with her brother Ephra. A Palestinian businessman with connections to the family is killed, forcing Nessa and her family to become even more vigilant.

Episode 2 - The Unfaithful HusbandWith the hunt on for Atika's son, the head of MI6's Middle East desk Sir Hugh Hayden-Hoyle starts to look into who killed Meshal and why. However, this only leads to him being blocked from any further line of enquiry by his boss Dame Julia Walsh, on the instructions of the CIA, forcing him to question who exactly is the master puppeteer controlling the strings

Episode 3 - The Killing CallWith Dame Julia having steered him in a different direction in order to get to the truth, Hayden-Hoyle turns his attention to Nessa. As more of her past is uncovered, including how she and Atika were kidnapped eight years before in Gaza, Nessa receives a mysterious phone call from a man who threatens to divulge secrets from this time in her past.

Episode 4 - The Ribbon CutterNathaniel Bloom, Nessa’s security advisor, follows a lead he believes will help him uncover the identity of Kasim’s kidnappers. However, Nessa is forced to reveal this to her mysterious caller, and in protecting Kasim has to stand by as Bloom is murdered. Meanwhile, although Hayden-Hoyle is aware of Nessa’s secret past, he is met with a wall of silence by all of Nessa’s associates.

Episode 5 - The Puppet MistressNessa discovers that Ephra has been having an affair with Atika, a surprising secret for which she feels a deep betrayal, just as Ephra confronts Nessa about her past.

Episode 6 - The Mother LineNessa makes a chilling discovery concerning a wiretap on the Stein data cable, an alarming fact that the professor also inadvertently stumbles across in the basement of the University.

Episode 7 - The Sibling SplitSaleh Al-Zahid arrives in London intent on an unknown deadly purpose. He runs into trouble and calls his British Intelligence contact for help. Ephra reveals to Hayden Hoyle the name of the only other person who knew about the wiretap.

Episode 8 - The Hallow WallRealising Israeli powers had only ever wanted to use the Stein name, company and connections for their own political and intelligence affairs, Nessa is more driven to realising her vision than ever before and securing the release of Kasim. This means uneasy alliances must be made.

Episode 9 - The Paring KnifeWith Atika being given an ultimatum by Hayden-Hoyle, he realises that Nessa has been manipulated to become a martyr for the purposes of state recognition by both Monica Chatwin, working for the Americans and Jalal El-Amin, working for the Palestinians.
