Episode 1 - TrailerWhen Calls the Heart follows the story of a young schoolteacher who has just arrived in Coal Valley, a 19th century coal mining town in the Western Frontier.

Episode 2 - BelievingAt the cafe - Elizabeth, Abigail and Clara discuss Abigail’s upcoming journey to be a character witness for Gowen, Bill is coming along for the trial as well. However, because Bill is leaving town, Bill deputizes Lee as Sheriff of Hope Valley. Meanwhile… Julie - Elizabeth’s sister surprises Elizabeth by coming to Hope Valley to visit her. Julie and Elizabeth talk about Elizabeth’s upcoming wedding. Things are going so well for Elizabeth… but Julie has really had to do some soul searching lately. Julie says that after a lot of thought - she wants to become a teacher - just like Elizabeth. Elizabeth warns Julie that teaching is not for the faint of heart, and not something to be taken on lightly, but Julie insists that teaching is her new goal in life. Elizabeth says that Julie can become her new apprentice at the school. Across town, Carson has a few patients come in with a mysterious illness that he can’t seem to treat. He talks about this conundrum with Faith. Keith one of them have answers for what is plaguing the town. Carson uncovers that the root of the problem is linked to ‘Dr. Bellemore’s Miracle Tonic.’ Carson finds the seller of the tonic and buys some - hoping to discover what about the tonic is making the people sick. At the infirmary, Carson tests the tonic and finds out that it contains arsenic. Carson goes to Lee, and tell him about the arsenic. Lee says they should wait until Bill gets back before they make any decisions. In Cape Fullerton - Abigail and Bill talk to the lawyers about Gowen’s case. All of the lawyers really want to put away Gowen for good. This upsets Abigail but makes Bill happy. Bill takes the stand and is questioned about his time with AJ Foster and what he remembers about Wyatt and the Railroad and how this relates to Gowen. Back in Hope Valley, Jesse and Julie meet at the cafe and there is a definite chemistry between them. Clara sees them talking and becomes upset. Julie then goes to school with Elizabeth and is introduced to the students. School is more daunting than Julie thought - and the kids try and pull a prank. But, Julie is impressed by how Elizabeth handles the situation. During an art lesson, Julie bonds with a student over a drawing and Elizabeth thinks that there may be hope for Julie as a teacher yet. Julie and Jesse walk home together after school and Clara sees and is devastated… Clara and Jesse just broke up and seeing Jesse with another woman hurts her.

Episode 3 - Hearts and MindsJulie finds teaching more difficult than she imagined. Meanwhile, the town, lead by Abigail, has to find a way to convince the railroad to build it’s depot in the town.

Episode 4 - Home Is Where the Heart IsJack returns to Hope Valley and he and Elizabeth start planning their lives together. Meanwhile - Carson finds love, there is trouble at school when Hattie looks for a newspaper story in the wrong place, and the town bank might be in trouble.

Episode 5 - Open HeartsThe bank is in trouble, and the community of Hope Valley has to come together to come up with a short term plan to keep the bank afloat. Meanwhile, Phillip is worried that Elizabeth will leave Hope Valley after she’s married, and Rosemary goes overboard planing Jack and Elizabeth’s wedding.

Episode 6 - My Heart is YoursJack, Elizabeth, and Abigail are excited that Jack and Elizabeth’s wedding is only three days away. But they are worried because Frank isn’t back yet.

Episode 7 - Love and MarriageElizabeth deals with Phillip’s eyesight problems, that could be more serious than she originally thought. Meanwhile, Rosemary is feeling like her marriage is at a stand still when she compares herself to newlyweds, Jack and Elizabeth.

Episode 8 - Heart of the MatterElizabeth has the kids learn about business by having the kids follow business leaders in Hope Valley for a day. Meanwhile, Abigail and the town try and find the perfect investor for the failing town bank.

Episode 9 - Weather the StormWhile bringing AJ to prison, Bill gets bit by a rattlesnake. Meanwhile in town: Rhonda, the sister to Carson’s dead wife shows up in town and says that she is dying of a brain tumour. Rhonda tries to convince Carson to preform brain surgery on her. And Elizabeth tries to reunite Greta with her lost son.

Episode 10 - In My DreamsThe wife of Lee’s late silent partner, Eleanor, arrives in town causing problems gives Gowen a chance to prove his character. Meanwhile, Faith plans a surprise party for Carson, and Jesse has a hard time coping with new job responsibilities.

Episode 11 - Close to My HeartAfter the death of Jack, Hope Valley struggles to cope with the loss of their beloved mountie.
