Season 1 Episode Guide

Episode 1 - Pilot

For 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper it isn’t easy growing up in East Texas. While the gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as father to a boy he doesn’t understand. Sheldon’s mother, Mary, fiercely protects her son in a town where he just doesn’t fit in. Sheldon’s older brother, Georgie, does the best he can, but it’s tough to be cool when you’re in the same class with your 9-year-old brother. Sheldon’s twin sister, Missy, sometimes resents all the attention Sheldon gets, but she’s the one person who can reliably tell Sheldon the truth. Finally, there’s Sheldon’s beloved Meemaw, his salty, hard-drinking Texas grandmother who’s supportive of her grandson. Big Bang Theory audiences have come to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. When George Sr. is rushed to the emergency room, Meemaw comes to babysit; the kids have an adventure getting to the hospital on their own.

  

Episode 4 - A Therapist, a Comic Book, and a Breakfast Sausage

After choking on a breakfast sausage, Sheldon wrestles with his fear of solid foods and discovers comic books for the first time.

  

Episode 5 - A Solar Calculator, a Game Ball, and a Cheerleader's Bosom

Sheldon struggles with newfound popularity after utilizing statistics to help the football team.

  

Episode 6 - A Patch, a Modem, and a Zantac®

When a NASA representative visits Sheldon’s school and dismisses his science, Sheldon is set on a mission to prove him wrong.

  

Episode 7 - A Brisket, Voodoo, and Cannonball Run

The kids brainstorm ways to resolve a family feud when Meemaw refuses to give George Sr. her brisket recipe.

  

Episode 8 - Cape Canaveral, Schrödinger’s Cat and Cyndi Lauper’s Hair

In an attempt to bond with Sheldon, George Sr. takes the boys on a road trip to see the space shuttle launch. Meanwhile, Mary, Missy and Meemaw have a girls' weekend at the salon.

  

Episode 9 - Spock, Kirk, and Testicular Hernia

George Sr. strikes a deal with Sheldon to tutor Georgie when poor grades threaten his future on the football team.

  

Episode 10 - An Eagle Feather, a String Bean, and an Eskimo

When Sheldon interviews at a school for gifted children in Dallas, his family struggles to cope with his absence.

  

Episode 11 - Demons, Sunday School, and Prime Numbers

A worried Mary sends Sheldon to Sunday school after she finds him playing Dungeons & Dragons with Tam and Billy; but Sheldon is inspired to study a variety of religions.

  

Episode 12 - A Computer, a Plastic Pony, and a Case of Beer

Sheldon asks for a computer and unknowingly sparks a heated argument between his parents over the family finances, prompting Mary and the twins to move in with Meemaw.

  

Episode 13 - A Sneeze, Detention, and Sissy Spacek

Sheldon’s germophobia lands him in detention when flu season hits Medford and he takes extreme measures to remain healthy.

  

Episode 14 - Potato Salad, a Broomstick, and Dad's Whiskey

When Mary takes a job as church secretary, she finds herself becoming a marriage counselor for Pastor Jeff (recurring guest star MATT HOBBY). Also, Sheldon and Missy spend their first afternoon home alone.

  

Episode 15 - Dolomite, Apple Slices, and a Mystery Woman

Sheldon makes friends with an upperclassman who introduces him to a new field of science, while Mary and George disagree on how to handle Sheldon’s blossoming social life.

  

Episode 16 - Killer Asteroids, Oklahoma, and a Frizzy Hair Machine

A disappointing loss at the science fair sends Sheldon’s life in a new direction. JASON ALEXANDER guest stars as Sheldon’s drama teacher, Mr. Lundy.

  

Episode 17 - Jiu-jitsu, Bubble Wrap, and Yoo-hoo

When Sheldon is bullied by an unlikely character, Mary and George disagree on how to handle the situation.

  

Episode 18 - A Mother, a Child, and a Blue Man’s Backside

When Mary bans Sheldon from reading a mature comic book, Sheldon decides it’s time to stop living under his mother’s thumb.

  

Episode 19 - Gluons, Guacamole, and the Color Purple

When Sheldon is no longer academically challenged at Medford High, he audits a college class taught by a professor (special guest star WALLACE SHAWN).

  

Episode 20 - A Dog, a Squirrel, and a Fish Named Fish

A neighborhood battle erupts between the Coopers and the Sparks when the Sparks’ new dog terrorizes Sheldon.

  

Episode 21 - Summer Sausage, A Pocket Poncho, and Tony Danza

While Sheldon is busy obsessing over the status of Meemaw’s budding relationship with his mentor, Dr. Sturgis, George and Mary attempt to bond with their other kids.

  

Episode 22 - Vanilla Ice Cream, Gentlemen Callers, and a Dinette Set

When Meemaw is pursued by two gentlemen callers (guest stars RICHARD KIND and WALLACE SHAWN), Sheldon interferes, forcing her to set some ground rules on the season finale.
