Trivia: Fred Dryer has spent the bulk of his acting career on television, but he has also appeared in a few feature films, beginning with The Starmaker (1981). Prior to becoming a performer, Dryer had been a professional football player. On television, he is best remembered for two roles, that of Sam Malone's irritating buddy, Dave Richards, in three episodes of the NBC sitcom Cheers and as fearless Detective Sergeant Rick Hunter in the series Hunter (1984). Other film appearances include Cannonball Run II (1984) and Day of Reckoning (1994).

Gary Crosby (Actor) .. Smitty
Born: June 27, 1933
Died: August 24, 1995
Trivia: The oldest son of singer Bing Crosby, American actor Gary Crosby was named for Bing's good friend Gary Cooper. Crosby, along with his three brothers, began his show-biz career as a child on his father's radio program. In 1942 he appeared in the movie musical Star Spangled Rhythm, where he was kissed by Betty Grable. For the next few years he was only seen in film sporadically. In 1962, with the encouragement of his wife, Gary began pursuing a performing career in earnest, first as part of a nightclub act with his brothers, then as a solo singer. In 1963 Crosby was signed for a two-year continuing role on the TV sitcom The Bill Dana Show. After its 1965 cancellation his career went on hold until director Hollingsworth Morse persuaded TV actor/producer Jack Webb to take a chance with Gary and give him a few supporting roles on the 1960s version of Dragnet.Webb liked Crosby and retained him in the role of Officer Ed Wells on Adam-12, which debuted in 1968. With three years of Adam-12 under his belt, Crosby took on the role of Officer Ed Rice on the short-lived cop show Chase (1974). While his father was still alive, Crosby was usually guarded in his comments about his relationship with his father, but after his father died in 1977, Gary found himself an object of much media scrutiny and in 1983, six years after his father's death, he published a scathing account of his troubled upbringing in Going My Own Way. The book not only generated public controversy, it also created turmoil amongst his brothers and his step family.
John Amos (Actor) .. Captain Dolan

Trivia: An actor with hulking presence and a stern countenance, John Amos undercuts his ominous appearance with the kind of warm grin and fun-loving attitude that makes him a natural for comedy. More recognizable as a television actor, the former pro football player has made enough visible forays into film to earn him a reputation in both arenas. After stints in a variety of divergent career fields -- pro sports, advertising, commercial acting, stand-up comedy, comedy writing -- Amos got his big break with the role of Gordy the weatherman on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1970. After three years as a side player next to Mary Tyler Moore, Ed Asner, and Ted Knight, Amos thought he'd get the chance for top billing by signing on to the gig for which he is best known: James Evans, the temperamental patriarch of Good Times. But Jimmie Walker, who played son J.J. Evans, soon gave the show a sassy youthful focus with his catchphrase "Dy-no-mite!" stealing the spotlight from Amos and Esther Rolle, who played wife Florida. Amos asked out of his contract after three years, and in 1976, James Evans was killed off in a car accident. The decision to leave a hit series did not squash Amos, as it has some others who have made that bold decision. Instead, Amos stepped into the highly celebrated and widely seen role of the adult Kunta Kinte in the 1977 miniseries Roots. The role challenged the actor's dramatic abilities like none of his previous work had, and he won praise for documenting the travails of a captured African who resists his enslavement. While continuing to turn up in TV series such as Future Cop and Hunter, Amos began making regular appearances in film in the 1980s. Among his more prominent roles were as Seth, companion to Marc Singer's title character in the sword and sorcerer film The Beastmaster (1982); Cleo McDowell, owner of a McDonald's knockoff burger chain and employer of Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall's transplanted dignitaries in Coming to America (1988); and the double-crossing Major Grant, who becomes one of the villains opposite Bruce Willis in Die Hard 2 (1990). Settling back into a career of guest shots on TV shows, Amos occupied himself during the 1990s and beyond with recurring roles on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and as Admiral Percy Fitzwallace on NBC's The West Wing.
David Ackroyd (Actor) .. Gus Trancus
Born: May 30, 1940
Birthplace: Orange, New Jersey
Trivia: Actor David Ackroyd is no relation to comedian Dan Aykroyd, despite the misguided (and misspelled) efforts of certain TV "experts" to link the two. Since the mid-1960s, Ackroyd has worked steadily as a stage, film and TV performer. Having toiled as a regular or semi-regular on such daytime dramas as Another World and Secret Storm, Ackroyd moved on to nighttime serial work in 1979 as the first Gary Ewing on CBS' Dallas (a role later played by Ted Shackleford). The following year, he appeared in his first theatrical film, Mountain Men (1980). David Ackroyd's weekly TV-series characterizations have included Frederich Bhaer on 1979's Little Women and Dr. Boyer on 1984's AfterMASH.
Joan Sweeny (Actor) .. Marilyn Trancus
Michael DeLano (Actor) .. Jilly Hunter
Born: November 26, 1940
Trivia: American actor Michael de Lano has appeared on television and in feature films. In the former medium, he has worked as a guest star on such series as Taxi, The Rockford Files, and Buck Rogers in the 21st Century. He has also had regular roles in a couple of series, including Rhoda and the short-lived Firehouse (1974). De Lano made his feature-film debut playing a supporting role in Sam Wannamaker's Catlow. Since that time de Lano has played small and supporting roles in a number of feature films.
Ron Karabatsos (Actor) .. Carmichael
Born: April 22, 1933
Gloria Charles (Actor) .. Linda
Arthur Rosenberg (Actor) .. Capt. Lester Cain
Arnold Turner (Actor) .. Detective
